Agreed. Thank of the points.  Sorry, another question, if ex-date for CD is on eg, 30 April 2009, mother share bought before the ex-date  entitle the CD ?

If you want to read analyst reports, read the body but not the Target Price and Calls. Generally inaccurate and lagging. These analysts have to support their brokerage, and so will try to make you trade as often with their calls.

If you have enough money to dabble in shares (>$30k spare cash), TA-Trading combi is ideal.

If you are small time investor (<$10k spare cash), it is a good time now to buy in the dips, diversify and hold long term (1-1.5yr max), fundamentals analysis is good.

TA in my opinion is not suitable for those without high trading limits because the transaction costs eats any gains making it too risky, as well as those who dont have access to terminal easily. In my opinion, SGX is not a good place to trade  given the lot size is much bigger than US.

Sori lah Chua, I'm a TA practitioner, not MFT, cant predict wat will happen 2 months later,  I trade day to day staring & analysing the chart.

Forget about those "anal"-ist tgt price & fair value, to me it is all bullshit... who cares, mkt is about sentiments - greed & fear & tends to overshoot in either direction.

Remember the mantra:

In property: location....location...location

In equties: sentiments...sentiments...sentiments

Apparently, there are some basis for d analysts to deduce d figures, be it indexes or px of particular stocks. They use charts, be it TA, MA, Bol band etc, to predict d trends. Of course, it is solely a pridiction, though they spent efforts n money to get their papers in yrs either at local or abroad.

Basically, sentiments in stock trading are evolved fr circumstances n timings, be it doom's day, panicky, optimistic n pessimistic on it.

Circumstances, bad side, ie 97 Asian financial crisis, 911 WTT tragedy, 01 Iraque invasion n latest credit chrunch. Then sentiments may not rely on charts n graph liao, in first instance, of course it may come on track in time to come while situation changes to favour d trading.

Timing, CO skyrocketed high to 147USD, a knee jerking to global economy. Yah , thats make CFD's burger got rich, without seeing d chart.

What next on timing, N. Korea going to launch something, debatable. Wat if something dropping at d world second largest economy giant n causing calamity damages, worst than Hiroshima n Nagasagi incidence. What would be happen, likely u will see fire works all over the sky liao?  Can't imagine wat would be d stock markets liao?

Ha ha, AK kiashu syndrom on d above, no calling for anything. Beer's talk.Smiley

 Bullish on Oil

by Larry Edelson on March 9, 2009

in Energy Sector Investing

Recall I’ve been saying we’re in the timeframe for an important low in oil? See article and my comments below. – Larry

Bullish on Oil

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601110&sid=aPwgg8LlzGbI

http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/commodities/energyprices.html

While market prices are drastically lower than their July 2008 prices, crude prices have rallied in the last week to post gains of almost 30%. The Brent spot price is currently at $44.38 and is forecast to breach $50/bbl. The current rally was sparked by China’s decision to take advantage of low prices and build its reserve stockpile and expectations that OPEC will further cut output.

My Opinion: More gains coming for oil. Technicals are supportive, and so is OPEC, which is expected to soon cut oil production again. Meanwhile, the oil and energy sector is extremely undervalued, with many oil companies trading at levels that value their proven oil reserves at as little as $5 a barrel. Once the broader stock markets bottom, which I expect to occur very soon, oil and energy stocks may turn out to be the best plays, extremely profitable. Keep an eye out for signals in my Real Wealth Report.

It is never wring to take profit but no upward strength does not necessarily mean it will reverse down.

It could be taking a breather ( just like when u are climbing stairs & panting, u pause to take a breather b4 continue climbing up), in charting, we called it consolidation.

Ha ha, during brk time in last G20 mtg, Abama had face to face talk to d King. Highlight could be CO issue. OPEC much wish to see CO px stdy ard 70USD. Hence, Abama needs to crack his head to see how to make d stock pile to drain out liao. As for China, no need to talk to Mr Hu, as they had stock pile huge vol when CO was as low as below 40USD.Smiley

She cleared everything already including 1 lot SPC @ 2.32 which she cleared at 2.80. Told her that SPC no more downside and only upside (but how much upside I dont know lah), but she still take profit.

I'm still holding on to that one lot bought @ 2.53. With enough patience, we can all profit from this point.

OPEC next meet in May

Ha ha, your mum got her own trading stretegy, esp talking about cutting loss n profit margin.

Perhaps u can convince her further with your farsighted view on SPC, not late to buy in again loh.

AK managed to get few near closing only. D other Q expired liao. Acc some penny stocks in SGX n HS as well, not for long term ones. Must see DJ tonite perform liao.

Cheers.

if you read my earlier post, mum bought 1 lot @ 2.32. She has also 1 OCBC @ 4.66, 2 SPH @ 2.32.

Problem is, she want to sell SPC take profit, as well as, the other holdings. I told her, if she wants to, sell everything but SPC, if the financial system collapse, oil will still be in demand. She refuse to listen, so have to wait and see how this week plays out.

what would you do if you were me?
