Ascendas said on Wednesday that it was in talks with potential investors to raise a combined $1 billion for two private-equity funds it is setting up for its expansion in India and China.
"We are in the process of launching in China as well as India. The investors are largely private equity," Ascendas chief executive officer Chong Siak Ching told Reuters in Manila, where the firm has announced it would invest US$150 million in an office complex.
She said the firm plans to double its assets under management by 2010 from the current value of $5.1 billion, focusing on key growth markets such as China, India and South Korea. The initial size of the India investment fund, which will focus on developing land into industrial parks, will be $500 million while the China fund will start with a range between $300-500 million, she said.
Ascendas -- a subsidiary of state-owned industrial landlord JTC Corp -- already manages an India fund that invests in information technology parks for a group of investors that includes General Electric (GE) Commercial Finance Real Estate, a unit of conglomerate GE .
Chong also said the company was in talks with banks for a Singapore listing of the first India fund, which was set up in 2005 with a target size of $800 million.
"We won't rule out (listing this year)," she said.
If the listing occurs this year, it could be the first Reit based purely on Indian properties.
Ascendas controls Ascendas Reit , Singapore's 2nd-biggest property trust by market value.
Any idea when is the dividend payout and what's the dividend amount ? This counter went up and down... and am wondering if it can be supported after dividend payout.
Up somemore
Thanx for the info, Hostradamus
