Even the best research in the whole wide world will not be able to see or predict the way of the stock market beast...
In the recent meltdown, the best of analyst would have gone "pok!" just like that... hehehe...

Hi, sorry for a silly question here. I am still holding the 200 odd lots, can I still sell them? Thanks.
Disneyland was once on our Government's card. The project did not take off because the Government refused to put in the money or sell its land for cheap.
The current IR projects are different of course. Not only the Government need not put in money or give away land cheaply, it stands to gain the most in both projects. The only indirect cost to the Government is exposing the citizens to the social-ills of legalised gambling - which in a way is not a big issue to the government; the propaganda machine and the dogs can handle any criticisms from the public.

I doubt anywhere in the world could manage Disneyland like LA. Singapore government knows its own strength and weaknesses and operating Disneyland in singapore will never be in their card. Lets see how Malaysia will run the Disneyland.....

Theme park is only part of resort sentosa and but 100% for hong kong disneyland, so the value shall not be assessed in the same way. Casino is the most important and high income generator.
Just share my opinion only.
Of all the Disneyland that I have visited in the world, HK DW is certainly the smallest. Not enough choices compare to those in the States where people go multiple times and still find it fun. Little wonder that it doesn't do well becos as a tourist, I would think twice to pay another visit any time soon.
I hope USS in RWS will not be an anti-climax ... high expectations, little to offer.

Genting Singapore (GS) has announced the pricing for Universal Studios Singapore (USS) theme park. And compared to the other theme parks around the region, we think that the basic pricing point should be pretty attractive enough to draw both local and foreigner visitors.
GS has also announced that the deluxe room rates for its three hotels start from S$400 onwards.
We note that the actual pricing for both the theme park and hotels are relatively close to our initial estimates of S$64 average for the ticket cost/visitor and an average room rate of S$400 per night. As such, we do not intend to make any adjustments to our estimates yet until we see some operational numbers when RWS officially opens in 1Q10.
We are also maintaining our S$1.31 fair and BUY rating on the stock. (Carey Wong)

It may indeed last long...
Probably culminating in a bigger depression than the last one...

Will you buy aussie dollor or gold when the price is high and even ah pek or ah soh in pasar also knew that? That's the different between investor and gambler.
Think too much, lose opportunity; think too rush, lose money...

CIMB in a Nov 19 research report says: “Yesterday, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) announced ticket prices for Universal Studios Singapore (USS) as well as hotel room rates, starting from $400/room/night. We derive a blended average ticket price of $65/day for USS, slightly below our earlier $70 estimate. But we believe there is room for upside surprises on the back of:
"(1) a bigger proportion of day passes; and (2) good response to express passes. Surprisingly, USS did not unveil pricing for its annual passes. While the hotel room rates appear higher than our initial projection, we believe the quoted rates are likely rack rates. Furthermore, we expect some balancing from free room giveaways to casino patrons. No change to our FY2009-2011 earnings estimates and end-CY10 sum-of-the-parts target price of $1.25.
This is just the start of many excitement-building announcements from RWS, we believe, as we approach its opening date. We expect stock catalyst from further news flow together with the award of its casino licence. Genting Singapore (GS) remains a trading buy. For cheaper indirect exposure to Singapore’s upcoming duopolistic gaming market, investors can consider GS’s parent, Genting Bhd."
I agreed. Further, the figure of 30,000 per day sounds too optimistic.
Without "profit subsidies" from the casino, it is unlikely that the park could survive on its own.
Hong Kong Disney World, which is at the door entrance of China, could not make profit. In fact, it would not have been built if the Hong Kong Government did not inject 82% of the capital required.
