Remisier fined, banned for manipulating Cosco shares.

A UOB Kay Hian remisier has been fined and banned from business after admitting to attempts at manipulating the market for Cosco Corp (S) shares in 2008, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said in a statement.
On March 25, 2008, Lee Wee Soon allegedly placed a sell order for 100,000 Cosco shares at $3.35 per share during the pre-open phase of the market, MAS said.
He also placed five buy orders through his personal account, bidding between $3.38 and $3.48 for a total of 1.1 million shares. Those bids represented 62.7 per cent of all the buy order quantities in the top-20 best bid queue at the time, the MAS alleged.
Mr Lee cancelled the buy orders just before the opening price for Cosco shares was determined at 8:59 am, while keeping his sell order alive.
The MAS said Mr Lee made $3,645 by artificially inflating the market for Cosco.
" Mr Lee had no intention of fulfilling the buy orders but had entered them to create a favourable environment to fulfil his sell order at $3.35," the MAS said.
Mr Lee has paid a civil penalty of $50,000 to the MAS without court action, and is banned for a year from acting as a remisier or any other regulated activity under the Securities and Futures Act.
" The pre-open and pre-close phases were introduced to increase efficiency, market integrity and transparency," the MAS capital markets group assistant managing director Lee Chuan Teck said in a statement. " It is important that the orders are genuine."
Just under a year ago, the MAS also took civil penalty action against another former UOB Kay Hian remisier for false trading in three counters in 2008. In that case, Teoh Teck Shin was fined $73,000 and slapped with a three-year practice ban after allegedly making $29,000 in profits from his acts. -BT

u can take the dvd amt, minus it from XD day, thats a approx of the price drop. if dvd low, the price wont drop low. on the contrary M1, after giving DVD in may, didnt drop but shootup instead. no hard and fast rule. adaptability is key.
Singtel giving 10cent dvd soon. that might drop it 10cent.

The relative timing for swing media is quite good also |

ive been watching Swingmedia for around since Feb. it had a big shoot during Feb...conso since then. recently i got indicator signal to go in. but i queuing at 120~121, see whether can get.

I second your opinion. I am vested in YHM since last year. Recent months movement is very stale. Not for contra play unless you know which direction it is moving.

my opinion of yhm is that it is hard to chiong like what wei ye & unionmet did, cos yhm got quite a number of shares floating.. every bid needs 10 of thousands lots to clear.. stocks that have high shares floating around usually trade at tight ranges.. yhm trades between around 38-46 this few mths, up & down.. can make coffee money from here, but hard to make big money at 1 shot, unless got super good news
