sgtrader, post sembmar chart in his blog. can find out from there.  I think $5.50 would be a strong support. Can consider to buy on pullback says $5.45. If $5.36, then $5.23, $5.13...  $4.96 Smiley  + 31 cents dividends

Oil speculator 2 really needs new contracts to boost stock price.

You are another one kind...

How can anyone " short the market down" ?

One must learn to treat the market as a big neutral animal...

It does not know what is " up" or " down" ...

Only human 'animals' have such concepts...  Smiley

DMG upgrades SembCorp Marine (S51.SG) to Buy from Neutral and raises its target price to $5.95 from $5.30, which values the stock at 18.7X FY11 P/E and 14.3X ex-cash P/E “While valuation is already above its 10-year mean P/E of 14.4X, we think share price could continue to re-rate on order wins and prolonged period of strong margins.”

The house notes 4Q10 net profit of $239 million (down 19% on quarter, off 20% on year), was above its expectation of $165 million and the Street estimate of $140 million.

It raises its FY11-12 EPS estimates by 13% and 6% respectively due to a revision in the timing of revenue recognition and higher margins.

It notes, more orders could be ahead, with the net orderbook at $4.8 billion 2011 year-to-date new orders stood at $361 million, accounting for 8% of its full-year forecast of $4.5 billion “We believe SMM can achieve our new orders forecast - the ten newbuild options are worth around US$2 billion ($2.55 billion) and newbuild enquiries are strong.”

Shares are +2.1% at $5.32.

Sembcorp Marine: Net order book reverses downward trend

Summary: Sembcorp Marine (SMM) reported a 26.8% YoY drop in revenue to S$982.9m and a 19.5% fall in net profit to S$239.4m in 4Q10, bringing full year net profit to S$860.3m, which was still 6.7% higher than our full-year estimate and 16.6% higher than Bloomberg’s mean consensus. Operating margin continued to climb to 30.3% in 4Q10, aided by the resumption of margin recognition of the CJ-70 rig.

After declining for the past two years, SMM’s net order book has increased to S$4.8b as at end Feb 2011, and this does not include options for 10 units of jack-up rigs (worth about US$1.9b). Though penetrating the newbuild drillship market is no easy task, we think opportunities for the local yards still exist.

Meanwhile, we are positive on the outlook of the high-spec jack-up market, and management revealed that enquiries are still strong. The semi-submersible rig market, however, may take some time to recover, depending on the level of activity in the Gulf of Mexico. Maintain BUY with S$6.17 fair value estimate. (Low Pei Han)

CIMB

Sembcorp Marine FY10 core net profit of S$807m were 11% above our estimates, stemming from higher margins jobs. Maintain Outperform and raise TP to S$6.38.

Stock catalysts stem from contract wins and consensus earnings upgrade.

Stock Code:  SCMN.SI
Company:  SembCorp Marine Ltd.
Slug:  Results drop but still meets expectations
Date of Report:  24/02/2011
Producer:  MJ Brohier

Sembcorp Marine's FY10 revenue and net profit dropped 26.8% and 19.5% respectively year-on-year but it is higher than most brokers’ expectations. While OCBC has a positive outlook for Sembcorp, DnBNor still warns investors over this stock.

OCBC analyst Low Pei Han believes Sembcorp will do well as she has a positive outlook especially on the high-spec jack-up market. But DnBNor analysts Kay Lim and Thor Andre Lunder advise investors to not go SHORT on Sembcorp due to the positive newsflow and the possibility of the share price overshooting.

Over the longer term, Lim and Lunder argue that the share price should revert back to reflect the company’s fundamentals and advise investors with exposure to Sembcorp to gradually reduce their stakes at the right opportunity.

Looking at how Sembcorp Marine is currently faring, its net order book has increased to S$4.8 bln at the end of February 2011, after declining for the past two years.

A significant amount of it is from orders secured last year, while S$361 mln of it belongs to orders secured year to date. OCBC points out that this does not include options for 10 units of jack-up rigs which came with the recent new orders.

Besides the recovery in the jack-up market, the drillship segment has also revived. But local rig builders have been unable to take part in the drillship recover so far as the Korean yards have always been dominant in this market.

Sembcorp Marine concedes that shipbuilding is a forte of Korean yards, but Low thinks opportunities for drillship newbuilds may arise for Singaporean yards should the new compact designs be accepted in Petrobras' rig tender.

Lim and Lunder also believe that there are around 5-6 more drillship newbuilds from Korean yards yet to be announced. For Singapore-based yards, Lim and Lunder believe they are positioned to land another 6+ jack-ups orders in the near term.

With the ship repair market improving with continued demand for the bigger docks, Low gives Sembcorp a BUY call with a fair value of S$6.17. Lim and Lunder maintain their SELL call but raised their target price to S$4.80 as they believe share price should revert back to fundamentals.

~INVESTOR CENTRAL’S TAKE~
Sembcorp Marine’s current ratios (by Reuters):
P/E: 12.55x
P/B: 4.17x
Free cashflow for FY2010: S$973.12 mln vs S$133.88 mln

Analysts surveyed by Reuters have on average an OUTPERFORM call on the stock with a price target of S$5.65, compared to its last traded price of S$5.30.
