Dont lose focus. With other stocks high rocketed and some into uncharted lala land, this is a  presented opportunity.  This stock may be clobbered for now, once the issues are resolved with incoming fare hikes (you and i have to foot some of the 900m maintenance if you take the trains), the stock price will bounce back. This company is NOT going to go burst anytime soon.  I will definately BUY when the stock price stabilized.

With cars and taxis so expensive and MRT breaking down so frequently.   Better start learning   to ride a motor bike.

NOT JOKING.

Now you know the earlier price increased is designed to cushion this expected downfall after the 900 million announcement.

A form of  SGX approved manipulation by the SMRT mgt or govt related coy.

Immediately after the announcement of going to spend $900 million to fix train problems, the stock price plunges from $1.825 to $1.735?

900 mil is about its one year revenue, but not the whole 900 mil pay by SMRT.

Earlier the company announced its dividend pay out policy remains unchanged, but not sure how much they can pay this time round.  Lets see what happen on 30-Apr.

Price increases to 1.825 now.   Is it because of the high 90k COE?   More people will turn to public transport, expected increase in ridership encourages the increase in share price?

SMRT has been rising from 1.74 to 1.805 recently despite the recent frequent breakdowns over the last few days.

Anything in the brewing?  Seems quite gravity-defying.

Noted that UBS always rated SMRT on the low side. So read their write-out with care.

COI hearings on MRT distruptions start on April 16

16 Feb 2012 11:05

The Committee of Inquiry (COI) said hearing into the cause(s) of the MRT service disruptions on Dec 15 and 17, will commence on April 16, 2012.

The hearing, which is open to the public, will be held at Court 1 in the Subordinate Courts.

The COI said the date of hearing was set after ascertaining the time needed for investigations.

The COI said it understands that there is a need for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT 'to carry out very thorough investigations before a meaningful public inquiry can be conducted along the Terms of Reference prescribed by the Minister of Transport'.

The COI was appointed by the government to inquire into the cause(s) of the two major MRT service disruptions in 2011.
