I would think that Rickmer's Management is probably occupied with a couple of probable news in the near horizon :-

1.  Penalties due to LTV covenatnts from various banks
2.  Redelivery of Djbouti Maersk.

Its amazing how the price can be supported at 40cts...

OCBC's coverage of FSL glitters compared to Rickmers.

Many ships are still docked on our waters - very bad sign. The last thing Rickmers needs are huge ships and even bigger prices.
Call it bad luck or bad timing - but the consequences, as we see now, are grave.
FSL got their covenants waiver, but a price. Rickmers will also get it - but a higher price. Rickmers work with 10 banks all-in-all.
The penalties from all 10 banks, put together, will weigh heavily....caveat emptor.

well..16cts is think is over exaggerated....likely value will be 26cts or so..as it's gearing is still quite high...and worst scenairo of "going concern" is played out...it could get worst with no cashflow or $$ to pay vessel loan and new vessel ordered ! :D

If Fair Value is S$0.16, the Analyst's Funds should SHORT it down NOW.

The Key Problem with Today's Fundamental Analysis is that the Analsyt does NOT know "HOW to Analyse?"

Here are the evidences:

1) When actual stock price overshot the analyst's SELL Target Price by a multiple, analyst would come back to MAINTAIN SELL but with Target Price REVISED to Market Price.

2) When actual stock price fell far below the analyst's BUY Target Price by a multiple, analyst  would come back to MAINTAIN BUY but with Target Price REDUCED closer to Market Price.

This is what we call the CATCH-UP ANALYSIS.

Anyone also can do.

Why does market pay this type of talent to do CATCH-UP analysis?

For WHAT?

MONEY TOO MUCH, probably!

In orde to STOP this funny business, all analysis must be substantiated by Market Price Action.

A) When analyst reports that Fair Value is below Market Price, its Fund SELL Market Price down to Fair Value.

B) When analyst reports that Fair Value is above Market Price, its Fund BUY  Market Price UP to Fair Value.

 This is called WALK-THE-TALK ANALYSIS.

Otherwise, for a stock which is reported by two opposing analysts with two differing Fair Values and countering recommendations of BUY versus SELL is really nothing but just TRASH POLLUTION.

How can the same stock at the same time have two Fair Values #?#?#?#?

It must be either Complacency, Incompetence, Negligence, Exuberance....

DJ MARKET TALK: Rickmers Likely Down On Higher Interest Costs
  • 31 August 2009 08:08

  • 0006 GMT [Dow Jones] Rickmers Maritime Trust (B1ZU.SG) may fall below S$0.40 for first time since May on expected hit to FY09 bottomline as one of vessel owner's creditor banks has levied higher interest rate on US$46.3 million loan taken up by its unit India Navigation. Move results in additional interest cost of US$56,000, will lead to estimated US$3 million marked-to-market losses on interest rate swaps RMT previously entered into for this loan. RMT says ultimate impact on FY09 earnings not known yet as this hinges on Libor movements. News follows warning earlier this month by independent auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers about company's ability to carry on operations if RMT breaches loan covenants tied to value of its container vessels, can't refinance US$130 million loan due April next year. Shares tumbled 20.5% day after PwC's warning, now likely to succumb to more selling pressure as financial concerns increase; closed +1.2% at S$0.43 Friday. (FKH)
