Price picked up on Friday. But historically this stock is weak in May. so maybe to tread cautiously..
Awaiting results announcement tomoro morning! Quite some buying interest at $1.70. MACD signal turning slightly up. Cud it have a short price surge like last year till early May?
1.70 seems like a consolidation going on forever, and you get numerous trade sizes of 1,000 and 2,000 tho there are some bigger size as well. Yes, waiting for the results out (AM) tomorrow. Yep, I think the Ascott Raffles will be catering to IR's VIPs at that price too! Cheers
1.70 seem like a consolidation, if long term I would accumulate what more xd on 7may, it has a good biz strategy as mention by shplayer. With hotel room shortages in Sin , I would think she would benefit from it. Vested. Tomorrow result will throw more light, I like the recent article in the previous Asia building to be converted into service apts going at 500-600 a night.
As posted earlier, I suspect Ascott Group will continue (in 2007) to purchase properties to expand their service apartment business and divest more mature properties to ART to book capital gains.
It will be hard pressed to better 2006 results as 2006 had the benefit of the ART. However, operational profits may see gains with the stronger economy in the region contributing to higher ocupancy and firmer rates.
1Q07 result out tomo (26 Apr) and 2006 divvy of 6 cts xd on 7 May.
The price for Ascott Group seem to hover around $1.70 for the last few days, not much movement. Anyone else vested in this counter?
Anyone know the reason for the sudden surge of this counter on friday? Searched SGX site but no announcement.
Hi terryaw,
There are actually 3 TA reasons -
(1) It has cut through the bottom bollinger band
(2) Acc/Dist flat
(3) Chaikin on a general downtrend

Hi Singaporegal,
Why do you say Acc/Dist and Chaikin not too good, is it because Acc/Dist looks flat and Chaikin seems to be on a downtrend? Thanks for your enlightenment :)
Newbie Terry
Ascott may be on a downtrend. Acc/Dist and Chaikin charts are not too good now.
AscottREIT status change to "XO".
Wat does that mean?? Giving out the preferential offer??
Singaoporegal,
Hi! Anyway to tell when this counter will bottom out during this current dwn trend based on TA?
Thanks
Vic

Since my last post, I think this counter has already topped out.
Its now on a downtrend. Be cautious

They have a divvy of 6 cents, likely to be distributed in May or so. I like Ascott, vested at higher price than you, $1.70. Am keeping until the divvy date is announced then see how it goes from there. Anyway, market seems to be under correction.
vested @ 1.65.. Shd i sell to cut lost or Hold on.. please advise..
I notice AscottREIT has the status "CO".
What is CO?
Ascott Group announced the sale of Asia Hotel (a property they purchased in July 2006) with a gain of $22.2 mil. => eps 1.4cts.
singaporegal,
Thanks and Gong Xi Fa Chai!!
Hi shplayer,
Sorry I didn't see your post on 13 Feb.
When it comes to Acc/Dist or Chaikin chart, I'm not too concerned over where the current value of the indicator lies. I'm more concerned over its recent gradient. If its a positive gradient, its good news. If its a negative gradient, then its not too good.
For this counter, I see that Acc/Dist is flattening out (gradient becoming zero) and that Chaikin seems to be trending down (negative gradient).... that's why I think it could be topping out.

there is a preferential offer for existing REIT holder in early March.. so more people would rather hold the REIT than the mother share.
