Hope this is good news to Novo:

Rio, BHP to hike iron ore prices in Japan
report AFP - Wednesday, June 9

TOKYO (AFP) - – Anglo-Australian mining groups Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton plan to raise iron ore prices by up to 23 percent in the July-September period, a Japanese media report said on Tuesday.

The Nikkei business daily said that the second consecutive quarterly hike would see iron ore priced at around 147 dollars per tonne between July and September -- an increase of 140 percent on the financial year ended March.

Another global giant, Brazil's Vale, is expected to follow suit, the report said.

The report said that Japanese steel companies -- which have agreed to negotiate prices on a quarterly basis instead of annually from this fiscal year -- are likely to accept the new deal.

Leading steelmakers in Japan agreed on a 55 percent increase in the price of coking coal and a 100 percent markup of iron ore for the April-June quarter.

Prices paid by Japanese and South Korean steel giants are generally used as a reference for the rest of the world industry.

In an attempt to pass on the higher costs, Nippon Steel Corp and others have notified auto makers and other large buyers that steel prices will be raised and that the pricing period will be shortened.

Shares in Japanese steelmakers such as Nippon Steel and JFE Holdings came under selling pressure on Tuesday as news of the price hike combined with concerns about the long term outlook for Asian steel demand.

Nippon Steel closed 0.98 percent lower while JFE lost 1.07 percent.

They will be releasing FY results on June 21.

The Listing Committee will only consider the application in a few months time (judging by Sound Global and Z Obee experience) so Novo's CEO is jumping ahead of the pack. The CEO knows that as long as Novo limits its 4Q loss (if any) to US$5 million, he meets the profit test. But since 4Q ended in April 31 and Novo has been making good earnings over the past few quarters, he must be confident in Novo's ability to report FY earnings of at least HK$30 million on June 21.

Alternatively, Novo is using its 3 year financial test dates from 3Q 07 - 3Q 10

Great that you have reply GM69, but the question that ponder me is that they should also present us the 4th qtr result today since they have make an application to SEHK (with the 3FY result but 4th qtr result are yet to be announce in SGX till mid June unless the application does not need to submit 3 year result)

Currently, from my observation, i believe they have met all the requirements of Minimum market capitalisation, Minimum public float and Spread of shareholders except for the profit test we are waiting.

Yes...it is an application...SEHK Listing Committee must view its application first.

Novo should be able to qualify provided 4Q 10 doesn't screw up.

FY 08 - US$11.6 million = HK$90.2 million
FY 09 - US$1.56 million = HK$12.1 million
9M 10 - US$10.1 million = HK$78.5 million

2 Year + 9 M Earning = HK$180.8 million
(SEHK merely requires HK$50 million earnings).

Currently its market cap is around S$150 million. 4Q 10 ended in 31 April 2010. I guess the CEO must be confident that the Group will report a profit in Q4 as well.

The recent share placements and sale of treasury shares boosted the public float to over 25% so as to meet the listing requirement.

Not sure if the application to SEHK mean that they have already finalize the 3 year account and if so

which 3 year did they use as they need to complete the FY2010 account to meet the 3 year net profit  requirement.
is it just an application only, anyone?

In the stock market, you can be inexperience, but you cannot afford to be ignorance.

If you are inexperience, please spend some time to educate yourself, so you can be a more informed trader/investor.

If you are both inexperience and ignorance, I can guarantee that you going to loss money.

I don't know if Novo is going for Dual listing or not, but until they do so, I'll not put much weight into this rumor.

Hi Grandmaster 89,

i thought Novo had applied for Dual listing in March and the result will be end May(2 months). Novo can choose to delay it? Pardon me ignorance, inexperience here.

They haven't applied it yet. So far they have only mentioned their intention to dual list in Jan and appointed CIMB Bank to be their sponsor in March 2010. They might do it after FY 10 results is out next month...cos their FY 09 earnings isn't larger than HK$30 million. Hope that helps :)

Novo should be able to provided 4Q 10 doesn't screw up.

FY 08 - US$11.6 million = HK$90.2 million
FY 09 - US$1.56 million = HK$12.1 million
9M 10 - US$10.1 million = HK$78.5 million

2 Year + 9 M Earning = HK$180.8 million

Currently its market cap is around S$150 million.
