I think It's a combination of both an art and a science.
Afterall, many aspects in TA are given significance based on the statistics of their observed results.
Without the scientific back up, it would be pretty hard to read the charts isn't it?
But then again, tea appreciation is classified as an Art.
However, scientifically, it's proven that adding hot water brings out the flavour and aroma of the tea leaves better than cold water.
So I guess it's up to your personal opinion here where to classify TA, until such a time that a general consensus is reached. =)
Of course, you are absolutely right to say without an edge, 'TA' is but a gamble.
That's why we can use TA to identify an edge and build our trading systems around it.

AAT Singapore.
You can contact them there as well, and find out more about the mentor and the courses they have available.
The mentor is a very experienced trader and the workshops are very affordable.

Reading a TA chart is an art... It is not a science...
A stock chart is but like a tea leaf pattern in the cup...
Thus, it helps a lot if one developes one's psychic abilities to enhance one's perceptive power...
Without such an edge, 'TA' is but as good as a gamble...
