In BT :
YZJ management will be funding $350 m through equity for takeover at approx 85.4 cts
Share price will be under pressure
Hi James
Like I say , I can share the experience of the place and people of Sarawak
Did U say U came from that place sometime back ?
Incidentally , I did not say I was sharing on COSCO
exactly, I don't even care the dividends while i buy a stock..
but again, the only dividend play last time was SPC in year 2006 while the price hit low to 4.60... that dividend play is really exciting.. that's the only virgin dividend play I have so far, LOL...

Going for dividend or capital growth depends on one's ultimate investment objective.
My opinion on serious investment is still dividend yielding kind of stock. Capital appreciation on the share price is equally important but it requires real good timing which sadly not many can do it successfully...not even Warren Buffet.
DIVIDEND YIELD.....divvy over share determine the yield. If the divvy maintain but the share price drops, the yield increase. This is happening to many counters now. Assuming you do not have any immediate use of your $$ and instead of parking in the bank and receive a pathetic 0.5% interest, must as well park your $$ in a high dividend yield stock and receive better returns. You do not need to fret over the share price up or down, as far as you same amount of divvy every year, the rest of the factors are not important.
Take SPC as an example, trading $6.75, dividend $0.60 (almost 10% yield). As far as you took position at 6.75 and lock in a 10% return on your investment, you do not need to worry SPC will trend down to $4.00. If every year they are giving $0.60 divvy, you are receiving 10% returns. In 10 years time, you are getting back your investment in the form of divvy, and the share you invested 10 yrs ago is FREE...right?
CAPITAL APPRECIATION....As mentioned WB can't time the mkt consistantly, lets not say about us. If you can find a company which is stable and profiting consistantly for the last 5 yrs, you are 50% lucky to have found the company and invest in them. The other 50% depends on the timing of your investment. I believe share price works in a cycle. If they are down now, they will come up again some day (blue chips). If you invested and the share price drops, you can consider averaging down. I will do that with company I am confident with I know well, not with some company that has just IPO or do not have proven record of profit consistantly.
Quoting SPC again on this... SPC was trading $6.00 some yrs back and it dropped to $4.00 before making a climb to $7.00. Then August last yr, mkt crashed and SPC went down to $5.00. When the mkt "recovered" from the sub-prime woes, it climbed back to $9.00 before dropping to $5.00 1 mth ago. Now it is making a climb back to $7.00+.
If we have a long term view and collected SPC along the way from down to up then down, etc, I am sure we are richer by the annual divvy and share price appreciated.
JUST MY OPINION...Cheers, it's weekend, dun fret yourself over $$ issues, it's family time leh...hehehe!!!
The China stocks with huge potential and with its big price movement more than make up for its low dividend. Frankly I don't eve look at what dividends companies are giving when I buy a stock. The amount is small compared to the stock price gains.
Ha ! Ha ! Ha !
I have been to Sarawak - loves the place, and the people, sincerely
that's all I can share
By the way COSCO gives much better dividend (U can check it out) and share price is higher
ooopsss.. I am sorry for my statement, stupidfool. but i think as Singaporean, they all know branding is important, just my "opinion" only..
soloman, so, care to share all of us which stock you are mentioning "with 2 good things"... I am eager to grab man... i cannot think of any shipping company but CHINA stock COSCO.. so, which one u are mentioning? share with us lei..
It is not very nice to get into personal attack. It shows u lack maturity and civilness.
I am oni expressing my opinion.

Sincerely, if I own YZJ shares, I will press mgt to give better dividends like the same type of Spore companies
I am sure the stock price will also "cheong"
So diviedends plays a big part in stock price
Hi James
Apprecite all yours and other's opinions. That what I like.
That what I have said about forums - everyone is entitled to your own opinions. I just love that, just don;t just personal and call others names. Ha ! Ha !
My comparison of "cheong stocks" with Spore stocks is that the shipping stocks of Spore has "cheong" and also give good dividends (2 good things)
YZj has lousy dividend and "cheong south" from approx $2.60 to $0.98 . Ha ! Ha!
Sad thing is ... you are wrong - I am not an old man.
And don't joke on other forumers with names like "stupid" - it causes one to think about your yourself
Hi Soloman,
Just look carefully at some of the China stocks and thier past results during last 4 years. One
does not make much just buying dividend stocks that give good dividends
sad thing is.. you are wrong.. I wish I am in this stock last week too, ha ha..
aiyaa, nothing personal la.. what for work up with someone i don't even know...
but, i just want to tune the statement correctly, dividend is not the only important measure ... you remember you keep saying dividend dividend dividend.. alamak.. but again, if you love dividend so much, i give you 1 stock, SPAusnet...
hey, stupidfool, how can a person name himself as stupid + a fool ... wa lau eh.... can u imagine whenever u need to log in, u need to remember, you are a stupidfool...
today is a beautiful sunny day... let's chill out..
Dividend and capital gains are part and parcel of share investment.
Actually dividend payout is an indicator of the strength of the company's cash management.
Anyway do not be put off by me cos i am just a "member" not an "elite"
