Very strong buying observed for Boustead, pushing price to S$2.30. Could this be a prelude to better earnings and/or margins this financial year ? Perhaps more will be revealed at the AGM ?

You are very right in saying that Boustead has built up a strong balance sheet. I think this is very important for companies, even though most investors love to look at only the Profit & Loss Statement. I also take the Cash Flow Statement in my analysis to see the free cash flows which the company is generating, and whether the cash conversion cycle is quick or slow. In Boustead's case, focusing on their core competence has reaped many benefits for the company as well as shareholders. I have only been vested since Sep 2006 (averaged down again in Nov 2006) and my average cost is S$1.295 (too bad I didn't recognize its true worth when it was below a dollar !).
I also dislike intensely the gimmicky things which some companies seem to come out with in order to do placements and boost their share price. In such a market, even companies without fundamentals can triple their share price in a few weeks. However, those who go in at increasingly higher prices are simply exposing themselves to higher levels of risk as they have neglected their margin of safety.

Just to clarify that I did not hold this counter from penny till now. What I meant is that I have gone in and out of the counter many times since its penny days. Lastest holding bought at $1.88. Hmmm, nice auspicious number isnt it ?

I dont know how to read the finacial reports etc but I have been tracking this counter since its penny days. Traded quite a no of times on this counter. Yes, I remembered being given Easy Call shares. After I sold Easy Call shares, the share price also gone up alot....

when I started this thread over a year ago, the price was $1.11. Today as I write, its $2.26. Over 100% returns in over a year. Probably nothing to shout about in these times, especially with RTOs and junkies doing multi baggers for NO REASON at all.
However, over the past year, the management of Boustead seem to have quietly continued their job in building real business with REAL CASH FLOW. from a company that was barely net cash 5 years ago, to the recent set of results of over $120m CASH in the group, after spending some $20m over the past year buying up minority interest. Looks to be the group generates real cash profits of between $20m-$30m every year.
It has been reflected through its increasing dividends. FY06 of 3c. and now FY07 of 6.5c Not forgetting, a distribution in specie of China Education ( ex Easycall ) shares. Which is shareholders have held on to its value till now, have made more than 7xs its distribution value.
In a world of hype up news flow, new dilutive placement shares to fund growth, new projects, seen in many other listed companies.
Boustead has been quietly building its balance sheet and strength in the market place.
This stock will only be appreciated by the value investors of the world. Look at the daily volume of the stock at these levels, its still so tightly held, signifying that exisiting shareholders still find value in the stock and refuse to sell.
haha... i didnt mention when it will reach $3.
If there are any upcoming announcement, it should be big and propelled the stock to 2.5

this counter usually moves up slow and steady type and dont usually cheong. I doubt it will reach $3.00 so soon...

It's confirmed, the CEO FF Wong just bought 2,500,000 shares from the open market. I suspect the price is $2.05 as I saw a married deal going through yesterday. There was another 500,000 shares married deal at the same price. This gives a signal of confidence in the company. Suspect something might be brewing....
