Oil refiner Sinostar dived as much as 13.8% to $0.28 after the firm issued a profit warning for its first-quarter earnings in '08.
Sinostar, which makes petrochemical products such as liquefied petroleum gas, said it expects profit before taxation to be lower compared to the same period in '07 due to disruptions in production and rising oil prices.
"Besides the disruptions, more importantly, we expect oil prices to stay high and this will still have a long-term effect on Sinostar's bottomline," a dealer said.
Oil refiners in China are hurt by high crude prices because Chinese authorities set prices of refined fuels to make them cheaper in the face of high inflation, meaning firms like Sinostar have not been able to pass the rising cost of crude on to their end consumers.

Better don't buy this counter, profit warning again.....Unless you have cash to hold the stock....It will drop again.....Better stay away this "superstar"
Bad news one after another. I think Sino* will not perform unless there is a trigger. It has earned itself a trading stock status as of now. Not investment quality. At closed to $1 previously, thinking that is is an SPC lookalike is dream.
personal view is today drop is as well the shortist action... when the result is out and beyond the public "loss expectation", then another round of slaughter might happen... profit guidance is never a good thing la.. keey for long term , hmm.. then, i will choose the very lowest base line, which is 0.22, heee.
