More would-taxi drivers will think that its lucrative to be a taxi driver (i.e. to hire a taxi to be a taxi driver, in turns Comfort generates from revenue from the increased rental.)

ERP sure set to rise. : )  The speech by Transport Minister is all about justifying the rise of ERP charges.

Not only that, I heard there will be more and more gantries being installed and soon, once you drive out of your town, you will need to pay ERP charges...that's the ultimate outcome.

hmmm... I think the lucky ones are those who have their own vehicles now. But then again... the ERP rates keep increasing...

I think I will just work at home.

I like how Poolman (frequent contributor in SGFORUM also a taxi driver ) phase it.  He is a legend!

-------------------------

That's what taxi was meant to be , taxi not really for middle working class citizens , who is claiming the cost of living has rise .

Taxi are meant for tourist , foreigners in S'pore for businesses , and they are the one who is still the happy lot .

They willing to pay for luxury , and got a cab , with ease . That's it !

I always emphasis taxi is meant for luxury , privacy and rapid .

If u not willing to pay for those criterias , u are right to bracket yourself as "boycotters" .

That's my 3 cents worth of opinion .

I dunno .... i got less nasty customers nowadays .

My customers seemed to be more generous after the hike . Those nasty , more kiam siap ones took MRT and buses liao .

Peak hour or non peak hour , doesn't matter anymore , they just need a cab .

When u need a cab , u just need a cab .

If u need to think 3 times to take a cab , 4 times glancing at your wallet , 5 times to look at your watches , and waited 30 minutes after 7.30pm just to get by the peak hour , just to take a cab , go ahead take a bus , u should be home by then .

As for LTA to implement those policies on buses ..... Can they do wht taxi do ?

Buses is still on a fixed route , isn't it ?

Dunno la .... good luck to Singaporeans .

Go and fit yourself well into buses and MRT , it'll save u alot of money .

Taxi drivers too busy with tourists , expatriates ( who taxi fare can be re-imburse ) , and some rich Indonesians aunties at Orchard Road . And our multi-million MNC Corporate clients .

Ironically i hit another high after X/mas and New Year eve .... dunno how , just did well on a Friday evening , so-so only , very busy during peak hours .

Not this time round.

The cost of not just transport has gone up, but other consumables.

Those with kids would also have the expenditure double if not triple.

Everyone would think twice, weigh the wallet/handbag a couple of times and count the numbers in the bank account many times before paying anything.

So the taxi Qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq is going to be for protracted period of time.

Believe me, it's just a matter of time before everything will be back to normal. S'porean will adapt to high cost of living sooner than later. Will collect more if it should come to 1.33 again.

i saw many taxi drivers in the last 12 months or more hanging around coffeeshops watching teletext... calling their stockbrokers to trade warrants/stocks... chitchat among themselves drinking kopi, laughing and bantering around ... each day spent more than 2 hrs on such activities...

taxi drivers... good life or not??  all smrt stations have recruitment tables at entrance looking to sign up more taxi drivers... all are welcome with great sign-up bonuses$$$

my opinion, I think majority of the taxi drivers are not benefiting from the fare hike. more empty taxi plying the road

Dunno whether to believe newspapers or not. They say taxi drivers now earn more money. But I see long taxi queues waiting for passengers everywhere.

Now I think it is cheaper in the long run to buy a car!

yalor! hang around at tiong bahru to pick those beautiful China hostesses working nearby at Tian-an-men nightclub after midnite. Some of the cheekopek taxi drivers even gave free rides to these beautiful China hostesses. Guess they made enough for the day already.

Inclusive of today's performance, TA showed that it is at least up trend till mid next week.

Look at MACD and parabolic SAR.

Monday's price movement would give a better direction.

Hi ojcurious,

This counter still looks bearish to me. The price trend is hugging the bottom bollinger band - a bearish sign.
