Victorian2 my intenton is just be careful. If the stock is undervalue, got to guess what the management do.. Sometimes they want to take the whole pie by buying some lousy investment which is cannot understand why they want to buy??
Recently alot of case come up like E3 is a good example... Better find out more on the management, probably can tell more about the company. It pay to take risk, of course buying a undervalue stock is good as the profit is handsome for penny. But got to be careful, if not the share u hold can get stuck for long period..
To a profitable trading cheers
Some management will have no conviction to their business plan.. Sell a story of going into one type of business then 2 years later say no good. See that another type of business is getting hot and want to go into in.. But track record will show how the management runs the company.... 5 years track record not very good for this one... If you think is is a very good bet, go ahead i will not be touching any unless it is 6.5 cents before capital reduction.. 0.5 cents more i am willing to throw way in case things go wrong again.
I am long term investor, need to fulfill two good condition when buying a stock. Good management with a good business model that generate cash into the company... Undervalue for achieve yes, but not that under value if compare to some of the counters
Bubble tea, selling lou han fish is lay man examples.
there is no clear owner of achieva as the shareholder spread going by its annual report is very wide. delisting is extremely unlikly as the owner would have to pay out quite a fair bit to all other shareholders to get hold of the cash & assets.
a more likely scenerio is to either pay out more over time, a RTO or new biz.

Unfortunately Co. does not have to make quarterly reports till 2009. But from its 2Q08 (30 Jun08) results and info on the Sale & Purchase document:
Cash at 30 Jun08.......$38.9m
Net Current Asset at 30 Jun08.......$59.8m => inventory & receivables more than covers payables and short term loans.
Net cash proceeds of sale of components division.....S$63.3
Total issued shares as at 30 Jun08.....514.2m
From the above, Co. may be sitting on approx 38.9+63.3 = $102m cash post sale.
This works out to be approx 19.9c per share.
After Cap Red, Co may still have approx 13.9 c per share in cash.
So, post Cap Red, 4c cost of share (assume purchased at 10c......less 6c cap red) is backed by almost 14c cash.
With this excess cash, if Co. declares another, say 8 to 10c div (or cap red), it will still be left with approx 6c to 4c per share for their continuing operations.....which is more than sufficient.
Something to think about......caveat emptor.

The management is very strong mah??? Achieve list for very long ler.. What the ROE, solid business model??? CFO resign and get new CFO warning sign mah?... Do cap reduction.. Hee hee. Strong Track record of Div???? hardly any...
Buy 1000 lots 10 cent stuck 4cents. Some trader will then show 20lots done at 10cents after cap reduction. 980lot cannot sell, trader then offer 2 cents
Then next year do a right issue to take back money. Hee hee. Beware of company director who will give themselve a big big chunk of options at currend depress price. Might see the earning dilute like water whisky..
60% percent yield.. what about next years look like none to me...
This is just like other JackInt -- Look what happen after that...
Warning your other 4 cents will be lock for a long long time... use $100 return $60.. froze your $40.. Worth it ma???
6 c Cap Reduction
xd 12 Dec 08
Payment 26 Dec 08

Thank you! shplayer.
Have a nice day & good luck
Correction to the 2nd para of my post....
"and from sideline 'casual' discussions after the EGM, the Co. officials seem pretty optimistic about their 'other' Peripheral business"....
should read as
"during the EGM and from sideline 'casual' discussions after the EGM", the Co. officials seem pretty optimistic about their 'other' Peripheral business"
ohm136,
Under the current mkt conditions, it is difficult to predict the 'fair' price for this or any other stocks. The eps, NAV etc info is found in my post of 26 June, and earlier, in this thread.
The company will be announcing their 1H08 results soon....before mid Aug....and from sideline 'casual' discussions after the EGM, the Co. officials seem pretty optimistic about their 'other' Peripheral business.
Also, bear in mind, the Component business will also be included (for the last time) in 1H08 result as the S&P was completed on 4 July.
The winding down of their loss making Lifestyle business is almost complete and most of the 'provisions' were made in FY07....so this will not weigh too much on its 1H08 results.
The above and my other posts are what I know and can deduce. SJ members will have to do their own research make their own decision on the 'risks/rewards' of each investment.
As usual, caveat emptor applies.
Cheers

Will Acheive share price go up?
Dear shplayer & other SJ members:
Great! What do you think the fair price per share of Achieva now? What will be the likely price on coming Monday?
Best regards!
Spot on......announcement of S&P completion on 4 July. Capital distribution announcement should follow shortly.
http://info.sgx.com/webcoranncatth.nsf/VwAttachments/Att_322202FD463C92E64825747C00307784/$file/Announcement_of_Completion_of_Proposed_Disposal_EXE.pdf?openelement
If you refer the the EGM notice,
NAV @ 31 Dec 2007 is 13.4c.
NAV Post S&P is 19.2c
NAV post Cap distr is 13.5c....this does not take into account YTD eps (and NAV increase) for 2008.
Last traded price.....14.5c. With 6c cap distr, cost is 8.5c....a 37% disc from its post cap distr NAV.
Referring to the S&P notice dated 4 March 08, note that the completion period of the S&P is 4 month. i.e. the S&P has to be completed by 4 July.....about 1 week from today.
So, baring any unforeseen issues, the 6c cap reduction date will be announced shortly thereafter.
