limkt00, thanks for the correction latest date line extended to 18May 1730hrs, Of course mkt close at 5pm. Thanks
I am not a veteran. But I did my own analysis. I see one of the following things could happen:
a) Temasek achieve 90% offer on the last will instruct SGX to de-list the stock from main board. In that case you will be able to get 1.88 for each share OR
b) SGX could not achieve 90%, and Temasek will posses major of the stake. The minority shareholders will have tough time and at the same time the stock price may go down [may be below $1.75]. Bit of risk for the minority shareholders. [OR]
c) SGX could not achieve 90%, and Temasek will posses major of the stake. The minority shareholders will have tough time and at the same time the stock price may go up [Because Temasek holds and if the company posts good results in the coming qtrs].
c) I have ready in the Straits times Saturday news paper, at the moment Temasek believes the offer is fair and would not want to increase the offer even if it does not achieve 90%. However if there is a counter offer from someone else, Temasek may increase the offer to secure 90%.
Thanks for the info, alexmay. Think I will just hold on and see what's next. Could any veterans out there guess if they can achieve 90%?. Would it be a good idea to just hold on? New babe here really need some advice....thanks!
Judith, attached is about statschipac

Basically you either sell it to the mkt at prevailing price, or you wait for accumulation >90% for the $1.88 offer. Temasek stated that they do not have to delist. Why should Temasek pay 1.88 in stead of 1.75? Why would Temasek buy out statschipac if they don't intend to delis? You have until Monday 5pm to make the decision. Cheers hope this helps
What that is surprising is why Temasek still went ahead with the takeover at premium price of 1.75 (up to 1.88) on 2 Mar when they had the benefits and a clear view that a major global correction was underway since 28 Feb.
Hmmm ... this doesn't bode very well right after the Shin fiasco. A sign that its mgt structure may be running ahead of common business sense expected from an investment outfit? Well this is good news for Stats shareholders. But at who's expense?
<Heard over CNA just now that Stats to be privatised for merger with either UTAC or ASE (?).>
rabbitfoot,
Why can't they merged while they're listed?
-----------------
Basing on analyst's commentories, very high chance that the deal will go through and STATS delisted .
Stocks of firms in the micro-chip industry jumped on Thursday, with UTAC rising as high as $0.94, after a Temasek Holdings unit launched a bid to buy all shares in STATS.
"This could be a catalyst for chip stocks," CIMB-GK Research analyst Khoo Chen Hsung said. "Singapore semiconductor stocks have been trading at a big discount to Taiwanese (chip) stocks," he said.
"Based on the valuation that Temasek is paying for STATS, stocks of UTAC and CSM are now considered cheap," said a dealer from KE Securities.
UTAC trades at 8.91x its forward earnings. CSM rose as high as $1.58. It trades at 24.23x its forward earnings.
