GenSp starts to move up again

I don't think so.  Caveat being more on the overall market sentiment than the conversion price.  .95 is a major barrier as GS wants its cash call to be successful.  For it to be successful, it not only has to not fall  below this price, it will also have to give a margin for investors to convert.  Hence, I think it cannot fall below 1.00 at least for it to look attractive to convert for bond holders.  Believe the market will absorb this shock because of investors' long term confidence in its profitability.  The last cash call ie, its recent rights issue at 0.80 (?), the price did not fall below 1.00 (pls correct me if I am wrong because I know it might actually be more than 1.00).  Use your own judgment as to how low the price can go and make your own buy or sell.  Pls don't listen so much to these FA because when Citi issue its valuation for GS, the price went all the way up from 1.05 to 1.17 or thereabouts within 2 weeks!   Do you know how these big banks make their huge profits lately?  Yes, through trading shares and moving the markets up and down.  Use your common sense here.  The cash call is a good excuse for a sell down, but the nearing issue of the licence is a great reason for a move up!  Who do you think is busy buying now in these down prices?

Next week, we will know the truth. If Genting got its license, it is pretty obvious its stock for have a huge upward movement. In current market, its all about market sentiment, Z-Obee, a few cents stock becoz of just twin listing, now at a price of $0.38. that is how many times of its book value? Conclusion, market now ignores the fundamental ut based mostly on its sentiment.

 

On Wednesday "forced selling" by local traders on margin calls hit

the market and drove the benchmark ST Index down a further 34 points

to close at 2,706.26. In all, the STI has fallen 187 points since last

Wednesday and 227 points from its Jan 11 high of 2933.

Dealers say one of the biggest casualties of the margin calls is

Genting SP PLC. Its share price is down almost 20% since the

start of the year. According to report by DBS Group Research,

there could be a potential share overhang from the mandatory

conversion of remaining $321 million. Convertible Bonds 2 at

95 cents on Feb 9.

if u have read the recent blog by Mr Brown...an interesting note when he mentioned about how open is overseas casino as opposed to here.  The entrances of overseas casinos are within view and unlike local casinos, you got to pay levy, pass through 'custom' checks...walk here walk there...go down then can see the casino...really hilarious...

guess they are doing every bit to ensure responsible gambling so as not to bring in too many social and crime problems...but is it an overkill?

STOCK CALL: Nomura initiates Genting Singapore (G13.SG) at Reduce as says shares look vulnerable to downside risk following recent strong run; sets S$0.77 target price. "After a 200% rise over the past year, we see significant downside risk for Genting, as expectations are becoming unrealistic." Adds, "given the high expectations and the hype built up over the past few months, Genting Singapore will have to constantly beat expectations to justify the lofty valuations." Says Singapore unlikely to become gaming hub like Macau as expects Singapore government to take cautious approach to casino liberalisation, high rollers likely tightly regulated, curbing size of the gaming market. While believes consensus expectations for what Singaporeans will spend on local gaming market also look too high. "We are not arguing that the two integrated resort projects (one of which is Genting's Resorts World Sentosa) will fail; instead, we believe that the street's expectations are overly optimistic." Shares closed down 5.5% at S$1.04 yesterday.
