awarded Genting Singapore (GENS) its much awaited casino
licence last Saturday. We understand GENS may need a week
or so to tie up loose ends before officially launching its casinos
in time for the Chinese New Year peak season (14-28 Feb). We
expect crowd-puller Universal Studios to open soon pending
completion of ride testings. GENS will be the first integrated
resort to open in Singapore, cementing its first mover
advantage over Marina Bay Sands, due for soft launch in
Apr10 (at the earliest).

off with 500 mass tables and 100 VIP tables (capacity to ramp
up to 760 tables), along with up to 1500 slots. We expect
minimal contribution from junket VIPs in the early stages due
to the strict junket regulations released on 31 Dec 09 (may
need longer time for compliance). But junkets will still be
required to kick start the VIP segment and help reduce RWS’
credit risk.
We understand GENS will likely startPositive development, but rich valuations.
casino licence is within our expectations. Although there may
be a positive knee-jerk reaction, valuations look rich at 20x
2011 PE and 13x 2011 EV/EBITDA vs sector’s (Asia Pacific) 16x
and 11x respectively. Share prices of casino operators tend to
come off post-casino openings as initial earnings are unlikely to
meet with street's full-year expectations. We also see potential
share overhang from the mandatory conversion of remaining

shares). Maintain Hold and sum-of-parts target price of S$1.20
(valuing RWS using discounted cashflows, assuming 7.8%
WACC and 1.5% long-term growth).
hmmm.... looking at Mr Samson's posting, I wonder is there any logics to the rise and fall of share prices? Any can explain to me using logic on the real Genting SP situation why good news leads to the fall in price today?
Cannot see the logic sia!!!
LOL I am still learning, be patience with me, have a positive attitude.
One more story, I got so much story to tell haha.
I got another friend is TA guy. In May 2009, I ask him, what stock to buy?
He recommend me Genting, Yanlord, Yangzijiang.
Then 3 weeks ago, I wanna see how TA guy view on Genting. I tease him, "I wan buy Genting leh. Genting almost opening liao."
He: "What? Are you crazy"
Me: "Last time you ask me to buy one leh"
He: "Last time I ask you to buy is during wave 2 or 3 la, now already wave 5, U go in now wan to commit suicide ah?" (I am not TA guy, so i forgot how he reply me already, but almost look like this)
OCBC Investment Research’s
Genting Singapore (GS) has obtained the license to operate the country's
first casino over the weekend. Although the company has declined to
officially comment on when it plans to open the casino, but with its casino
floor already fully decked out with just under 500 gaming tables (equal split
between grind and VIP tables) and some 1300 new slot machines, we
believe that it will be able to open its doors to the public within a couple of
days. Likewise for the Universal Studios Singapore (USS) theme park, we
understand that GS is in the process of putting on the final touches to the
attractions; and is also awaiting the green light. While it may be ideal that
both attractions can open at the same time, the news of GS getting the
casino license should prove to be quite positive for the stock; this as the
stock was earlier swamped by concerns that GS may not get the license
until Mar. As such, we maintain our
if adjusted for dilution from the mandatory conversion of its CBs by 09
Feb).

BUY rating and S$1.39 fair value (S$1.35(Carey Wong)LOL nickyng, relax la. Everyone so negative about Genting, sometimes need to have a bit of positive post to balance up the atmosphere right.
Think 5 more years later, I will have my chance to post back about my belief of Genting. Whahaha...... * Crazy liao*
I am waiting for Genting SP to show me the $$$$$$$$$$
Gaming licence, opening date, what does that means to you?
Does it means the share px must go up?
Now you see it.
Cheers and good luck

Then last weekend, I saw that uncle again. He Lim Teh at kopitiam. Last time he told me hold till $1.5, sure come one.
I ask him again. "Friday, genting stock shot up to 10cent then drop back to 0.3 cents. What do think?"
Uncle still silent and no answer me. I wonder what happened to him, maybe he buy a lot, haha.
Since he no answer me, I give my own view. I said, maybe Genting cannot go up leh.
He replied "Aiya, you cannot play with those big fish la, what they planning and thinking, you also donno la"
Then he faster finish his tea and leave the kopitiam.
ehh... i also unloaded genting earlier on, @ 1.24, before the correction came abt..
like what alot of other said in the forums, stock market is forward looking... they have always been saying that licensing and opening are already factored in the current price... i think the next time the stock will move upwards is good news on earnings le
Very strategic move.Be fearful when everybody is greedy.
Be greedy when everybody is fearful.
No wrong. Did that twice oreli.

Few weeks ago,
I ask few auntie and uncle, what they think about Genting Stock. Many of these uncle and auntie lost more than RM300k during bull run in early & late 90an
I also ask my younger sister and my girlfriend who don play stock.
Surprisingly, all of them replied me like this.
"Genting sure go up la when it open , especially first day opening. Else Genting no face leh. But must sell on the opening day or few days later lo. After open must sell la, then the price sure drop one, buy again at lower price"
After hear their comment, I think & think, if I wan to be rich, I cannot think or be part of them. So I sold all my Genting stock bit by bit. I don hold any now.
Reall sai lor. This time really long bia liao.
Thought Genting will go up upon the news of getting license, in the end, price dropped. (Surprise...)
Then next surprise will be Genting opening during festive season, price will drop further!?!?
Looking at the amount of money Genting poured in (in billions) and it just commence operation, how long will it need to take before it can really start making its first load of profit? 5 years? 10 years?
Thinking about this really super demoralised.
