First, irrational buying, its a very common mistake bcos we keep setting higher TP. I have posted many time, dont get too wild when set TP, do it one at a time, take profit first or wait till it cross strongly then buy. Secondly, dont know how to sell. This portion causes the most hurt. When come down, hold, bcos till have T+5. Those have deeper pocket, buy and hold, hey u can buy cheaper as it goes down, dont talk about pride la. If those has been in the mkt for long, one example, Charter SemiConductor, high at $18, I have friend that kept it bcos XXX is incharged, went down to $15, hold and try, down below $10, aiya sian liao, below $5, not willing to sell and it turns into cents and delisted. Buying is not a big problem, selling is the biggest, cheers

Record date on 28th, it's mean Ex-date (XD) is on 26th, the EX-date to record date total is 3 trading days.
XD on 26th, the last day of CD is 23rd, as 24th is Sat and 25th is Sunday.
So if you buy on or before 23rd, sell on or after 26th, you got the dividend even by contra.
But you have to understand, most of the stock the XD date will drop the price equal of dividend given, it is very low percentage of stock in XD date still same price or higher than Ex-date.
So, the dividend it is only for those long term share holder or company key person that they can't sell the share due to control the company.

 

Yes, as long as u hold till last day of dividend day even u haven't make payment, u r entitled fr it.
