Just sharing knowledge - extracted from OCBC research (27 Aug) below. The deadline for CB to be issued is 20 Oct 09, so between then there could be further manipulation (of price).

"Convertible bonds to raise up to US$100m. Swiber Holdings Ltd (Swiber) intends to issue convertible bonds to raise up to US$100m for working capital and general corporate requirements. This includes an up-size option of US$22m which may be exercised up to the date of issue. The conversion price is initially fixed at S$1.20 (25% premium over the VWAP of Swiber's shares from 24 Jul to 21 Aug 09). This price may be reset downwards but with a floor of S$1.08 in the preceding 20 days prior to issue date. Following the issue date, this price will be adjusted down to the average market price but with a floor of S$0.864 (Exhibit 1). Assuming no exercise of the up-size option, 93.6m conversion shares will be allotted, representing 18.52% of Swiber's existing share capital."

When a stock goes up and up, it is highly unlikely for people to want to sell...

It is not greed, but the strong action of the stock that deceives people into holding longer...

That's why playing stocks is not that easy... hehehe... Smiley

Fri (2 Oct) sharp fall of 5c could be the work of syndicate who bought the conv bonds & forced a low conversion price. At 85.5c it should rebound in short-term. But mid-to long-term outlook is bleak 'cos Swiber has not secured any big projects from YTD n with <3mths to year-end its cash reserves will be dried up = another cash call/placement.!

my colleague bought at .99. paper loss ard $7000.

ny opinion is you have to hold for a few months (end Dec see how) before price rebound. Cos wen price breaks below .90, it is going down for some time.

swiber finally showing its "power". so many stocks have recovered to their highs or 80% of their high.

swiber is still far lagging behind. $1.50 is the target. seems that bbs are pushing it higher.

Swiber is one of the good shares.  Should be classified as semi-blue chip, except that the price is a little too low.

Swiber Ranks 76 in Singapore's Top 100 Brands

Swiber joined the ranks of Singapore's Top 100 brands for the first time in "The Brand Finance Annual Report on Singapore's Intangible Assets and Brands" published last June 23 - our company was placed at No. 76 with a Brand Value worth SGD 43 million and a Brand Rating of A+.

The ranking which began last year, is based on the companies' brand portfolios and its financial forecasts up to 2013. It does not take into consideration privately owned companies. A firm's enterprise value is the combined market value of its equity and debt, less its cash and other cash equivalents. Intangible assets are defined as non-monetary assets with no physical substance, such as branding. Experts said that brand power plays an important role in helping a company gain market share. This is essential for a company's survival and long-term performance, especially during a recession.

The list is compiled by brand - valuation consultancy Brand Finance - the world's leading independent brand and intangible asset valuation firm.
