Sorry, but you sound more like a supporter than an investor.

If you are an investor, you'll only be interested in whether this company can make more money for you or not;

and not all these mambo jumbo stuffs.

as an investor, I proud of what they achiveed in record time of 3 yrs' of construction. I was there with my family today for lunch at chinois. Singaporeans are a lovely lot. They were orderly and listened to instrcutions to queue to entyer the casino. nOT so chaotic as what the newspaper say lei. As we walked from caisno to this hotel michael for lunch, the RWS staff were seen patiently helping the many curious visitors with questions. Kudos to them lah... :) After lunch (food and service tip top too) and a leisurely walk to explore the resort, treated ourselvbes to dessert at Boulangerie at Festive Hotel. The choco tarts and this apricot dessert - simply divine. sERVICE was fine too. Aiyah, considering them to be the 1st casino to open and this being the super long wkend, many Singaporeans and residents will surely visit this new hip place to see what they offer lah. Lookiung at what they have done, i think they have done a decent job - deliver wat they promised to do. Open within 1st quarter of 2010. Gif them some more time and I sure they will sort out all the teething food quality and crowd control matters lah. Singapore garment will also not allow them to produce another Genting Highland resort wan lah. By end next year, can be sure it will be THE place we can proud of - just like the durians. Isn't the durians now the Singaporean icon tat we all love? oh, if the rws people readin tis, maybe, a suggestion, being typical sINGAPOREAN with high expectation, maybe, in future, can have more lift for people to go from basement carpark to ground floor at universal studio. maybe good for those on wheelchair. Tink so far, there are two lifts near the entrance of casino. maybe, let me say to RWS staff - take heart and continue do your best just like the 3 RWs staff giving instructions to SINGAPOREANS AND FOREIGNERS alike on how to go into the caisno. They really never take break wan and tirelessly repeat their instrcutions over loudspeakers for the half hour we were there whn waiting for bus at the basement bus point. Can tell these rws people really want to give visitors a good time at the resort. just my observations i saw tis afternoon- reali exciting and happning place now - i tink will become the 2nd orchard road veri soon... :) for me, i will still hold on to this stock - surely a long term bet one wan. and of course, i will surely visit the place again... :)

the present levy system is efficient ..paying online and using NRIC or driving licence is seamless... the inconvenience is passed on to tourists --- cause the checking on tourists  is manual system to ensure no locals or PR pass off as tourist...

the govt will find  that levy will not stop people seeking entertainment from casino ..and they are happy with it as it is a new tax which will keep increasing...

genting will find itself having to compete with Marina IR if it does not offer a good gaming experience...people will decide which one to go (assuming levy is no longer an issue for people who want to go genting).

ipunter..the 3 tablets is Marina IR... not RWS...

The way I look at it, GS has a happy problem.  Uncontrollable crowds is better than no crowd.  Teething problems are normal for any new business from restaurants, hotels, shops, etc.  Though Genting is an experienced casino operator, they are running GS with new rules (levy), new inexperienced staff (mostly Singaporeans who have never been in this line before).  They are smart enough to know that if they don't iron out their teething problems soon, they will turn away their customers.  And they will.  They will need to quickly hire and train more croupiers and dealers to manage the demand.  Of course, this kind of crowd is not always going to be around.  It is the opening and CNY.

What the opening tells me is that people will still want to come back again because apparently, there are enough demand out there to ensure GS will make money in the long run.  GS will quickly open up more tables and slots.  Who would want to turn away business?  Isn't that why they dare to plonk down S$6.5B to bet they will make money in the first place?  Why would GS bother to pay the levy if there are enough business not to do so?  Things would be different if the demand is lower than expectation.

On the levy problems, why don't they implement a card system ie, issue a card which will expire in 24 hrs for each $100 levy payment.  When the gambler leaves the casino, he will insert the card into the exit barrier and if it has expired, the barrier will not lift but will emit a buzzing sound which will alert the person to pay the additional levy before he can exit.  It will be sorry if the guy does not have any money left to pay though....  But, that is likely out of the norm.

gaming levy is very common in other countries but the operator are the one paying the levy not the citizen... maybe someone shld highlight this to the garment...

If the three building structures are shaped more like a cigar, ie taller and slimmer,

it would create an impression of three joss-sticks in honour of the God Of Wealth (Chai Sern Yea) up above. Smiley

it always brings the thought of ancestor tablets... hehehe Smiley

if they don't, they will be gone .. they have to improve the loyalty programme for singaporeans who patronise genting highlands....

(i) redeem 8 mandarin oranges by deducting 3 Singapore Genting points - for info. 1 points required approx. S$200 dollars of credit spins in slot machine... sigh...

(ii) redeem a prosperity package (with chinese new year stuff - mushrooms) by deducting 8 Singapore Genting points --

etc

Hope Genting sp will improve themselves. Even though it is open with main target is the tourist, they also have to do somethings to satisfy those singapoorean who pay $100 for the entrance.

They can't jus depend on the tourist to generate their revenue loh........

Disgraceful for both singapore and Genting.....

Genting played politics... it declared it was ready anytime and only need to wait for CRA to issue licence.... when CRA issued licence, they had to save face to open by CNY even though they were not ready.. half of the casino was not opened - limited no. of jackpot machines meaning you have money also cannot play... small table for table games...

coffee machines no replenishment...membership counter do not know the promotion... F&B did not know the usage of free voucher issued..

Genting Highlands is 100 times better run than RWS.. RWS did not take any of Genting Highlands' strengths.... eg. ATM to withdraw cash which cuts down long q at cashier..

Overheard many singaporeans saying they will go Genting Highlands.. ..buy parent share...

we are really an immature society,  feel so ashamed to have a casino -- citizens need govt as a nanny to control them.... i wondered how many tourists cursed and swear for queuing to get into a casino and queuing to exit..

make a trip there today.. then you will really appreciate my comments..hehe

I just reached home from Casino. Disappointment is a under-statement .  Pity all fellows singaporeans who had paid the $100 levy but did not have the opportunity to gamble (be it jackpot or table games).  One man commented the worse casino in Macaus better than RWS.

Met so many friends and they swore not to return..sigh... It is an embarrassing sight that tourists had to queue for so long to enter the casino. One Singaporean when exited from the casino shouted that he was treated like criminal because the security was checking for over-stayers (chaos)...

so many bad things about this RWS which i did not want to comment...

one last thing....ladies q to use toilet spillover to the outside near gambling table..  men toilets have 4 urinals only and have to q 5mins to pee...

sigh.. I believe Sands will have its executive to observe Genting's mistakes ...
