Singaporegal... :)
I personally think short posts (like yours) get more attention...

This is not to say that those who make lengthy posts don't have an audience...
but just that people usually take the route of least resistance...

I suppose the most desirable posts are stock tips... hehehe.. Smiley

Hi elfie,

Great to see this thread come alive again. The market is so slow nowadays that there's nothing much to talk about with regards to stocks. That's why cashiertan is right - bad market = low volume of postings. Anyway, Don't worry about the SGH indicator because what has happened is already much worse than the SGH effect !! Smiley

Hi Mani,

I'm not the long-winded sort... so I keep my posts short and to the point!

nah. am just a small puff piece of fluff of little real consequence to the world, just as the world holds little real cause or consequence for me.

literature is the art of saying everything in nothing, and nothing in everything. if what is priceless is gold, then gold is what cannot be bought. In that sense, it too is valueless. in all the worlds that believe in barter, only two words apply: caveat emptor.

haha.

Hi Elfin, forgot to mention that the programme "Yu Dan's Lunyu Xinde" is shown on Channel U at 9.30 pm (repeat at 11.30 pm) on Tuesday. It teaches how to live happily.

Somehow, I feel it's a pity Singaporegal does not have the habit of putting more "meaty" posts here.

Other than the usual "out of courtesy" posts which she puts out, it would be a nice to have longer 'stories' from her... After all she has already been established as "part of the SJ landscape".

But I guess she's the shy type... hehehe... Smiley

busy day at wk, just catching a breather here. hullo cashiertan, yeps, i do acknowledge what you've pointed out--singapore does have a greater degree of safety and law and order, cleanliness compared to a lot of other countries. and i do guess the grass is always greener on the other side. At end of day, it boils down to an individual's concept of "quality of life" perhaps?

whether one wants to chiong and rush, or take it easy and relax. yeps, my consideration was the same as the couple you pointed out: work so hard for a little flat, when i can buy land, space overseas for the same amt of money? doesn't make sense...in the end of course, no right or wrong, just a matter of choice and willingness to accept the responsiblity for one's choices.

and haha, yes, thailand was/is one of my choices. Esp since i've been visiting the country ever since i was a child and can speak their language.  Family friends there too.

lol, yes. continue trading. :P

cheers all!

why thailand is my fav choice? 1, thai have better strategic geographic location after spore. thais are more hardworking than the other asean members after spore.

most imptly, when thailand decide finally to build the KRA canal (wikipedia it) u will see the rise of thailand and the fast fall of spore.

thailand have lots of arable land for agriculture

thailand really practise religion freedom and have long tradition of tolerance to other religion.

food, medicine and cars are cheap there. daily essential are cheap there.

however to stay there , may need to know how to protect oneself and family from black magic.

elf, there is the price to pay for security.

which country in the world can a woman dress loosely and not worried being raped walking alone in the streets?

other country has more freedom but mostly lack security.

freedom has a price to pay

i am not saying spore is good but just that spore has its good and bad. u may think u are not rich but the truth is sporean are top 10% riches ppl on earth. our average saving can make us live like kings oversea.

spore is a good plc to save money and make money but bad plc to retire.

thus look at the bright side, work hard and make tons of money, so when u want to retire, u can just sell ur assets and migrate to thailand or developing countries.

do u ppl know that if sporean sell their fully paid flats and move to other developing countries, they can just retired at age 40+ if properly money management is applied.

Average sporean live in 4 rooms flat with avearge px abv 250k. CPF for a couple adds to ard 100-500k. with this money if u migrate to thailand, and stay in hua hin, u can really buy lands, have secutiry guard ur bungalow 24hrs, let ur kids study at int'l school there and live comfortably for the rest of ur lives.

i know coz i knew abt this when i tok to a middle class sporean couple in their forties, who think out-of-the-box. they moved to huahin few years back and owns lands and houses. plus a elephant pet! and they rent out their 5 rooms flat and move there with their savings of 300k. lol good to tok to ppl when on flights, u learn alot.

better do it early if u want coz more and more ppl are doing it and make the px of land and houses more ex. i think just a few yrs more and u will miss the opportunity to get it cheap.

Elfin,

You may wish to watch the programme "Yu Dan 's Lunyu xinde" at 9.30 pm (repeat at 11.30 pm) on Tuesday. For a quicker way, you can try YouTube (but no English subtitle).

elf. is. bored. zzz. sighhhh......nopes, no hols, unfortunately. used up all my leave alr. sighhhhh.....urgh, the SGH index had better not swing into effect. :P enjoy your hols, singaporegal! :)

boredddd!!! whine whine whine!!! ahahahhaha. i wanna puppieeee. s'pore's a boring place leh...apart from eating, drinking, shopping, what else is there to do here....such a small, cramped place...we work like crazy, we scrimp like crazy, we buy our puny flats, (for the married ones) worry about their kids' hothouse education, try to keep up with the neighbours...it's either complacency or worry. sometimes i think we exist in a state of disaffection and lethargic discontent. blind adherence to rules.... what else is there? gotta question the reasons for staying...

elfie sings the blues. sigh.

i want a coloured world!

haha. sighhh.
