Looking at Genting's past results. They really make  big looses year after year since few years back.

There really isn't any benefit being their share holders. No devidents given for years.

Perhaps they are hoping that the Sentosa casino will help them tro be back to the black.

Yearly looses ranged from 300-400 millions.

If Sentosa casino and resort could generate for them 400 - 500 million or more annually.

They will be in profits first time after years in the red.

That is IF. And  from the way, the ppl is packing the casino halls...........it may well be.

Things are picking up, high rolers are coming.....................

Happy to know that you guys are learning now ! :)

Cutting loss is part of the trading stock market strategy.. Just bear in mind this thing... if you have 10 trades, you cut loss on  2 trades by following the rules of trading, you will win the other 8 trades which overall you are making money...

Stocks are always up and down.. You will always have a chance to ride on the winning trade.. Happy investing and trading!

Genting SP is like a Sweet Young Thing [SYT] whom every man wants to IN.

But every man who wants to IN a SYT is at the SAME time FEARING that he canNOT TAHANG LONG LONG LONG.

And will KINA the GREEN GREEN GREEN CAP to become like a TURTLE or TORTISE.

For those who have the SYT FEAR need to substitute it with Sour Old Thing [SOT].

That is LIVE.

A recent article wrote, "HAPPY in an UNhappy State"

HAPPY to admire the SYT and yet UNhappy to own it due to SYT FEAR.

With SOT, it is "UNhappy in a HAPPY State" instead.

That is LIVE, AGAIN.

It is also IMpossible to be "HAPPY in a HAPPY State"

Star-trade, is it true that if you don't cut loss, the syndicates don't make money from you or the market and therefore they will trash down the price further to show that their short positions are further making profits in the books?

If you set a cut loss nos, take it with a pinch of salt.

e.g.ppl who bought genting at $1.25 - $1.30. If their

cut loss is 5 - 10%, they can buy cheaper now.I have learnt

my lesson before. You don't have to wait until your neck

long long for it to go up. The mkt is always there for you

to fight another day. Just wait for apportunity. At least you

can sleep in peace.

Listing requirements are different now. Previously

SGX need at least 3 preceeding years of profit before

companies are allowed to be listed. Now this requirement

is no more. So much so, plenty of  China S-Chips are listed

here. Those good companies are listed in China and Hong Kong.

Trade with care.

Cutting loss is a good protection strategy, but this is a very hard discipline to follow.  As a share investor our dependency for the safety of our money lies with the authorities beyond the win and lose in trading.  The regulatory part is beyond our control.  In company failures resulting from "misdemeanour", I think SGX authorities need some concepts of resonsibilities put in place. In some countries they have the insurance to take care of unnatural losses like result of foul management of the companies and finances.

Beside win or loss in trading, sometimes investors got wiped out because nobody knows what happend inside a company.  SGX can see the outside when it appears fine although the inside is rotten.  This is especially so in new companies (IPOs) where the picture is always rosy prior to IPO and then later changed to dirt after listing.

There are others factros too that I have explored. And I think an investor can lose big money when they are targetted by syndicates who have strong links with the king of the exchange when they can access vital information about potential good and bad companies or customers investment profiles. As the market people says, one button only everything is there!!

be careful...I advise not to do that...Just to give you an example when I first started out 'trading'....just follow friends...My Chartered Semi bought at 4.78...within 1 yr dropped to 1+...then followed by penny stock...then bought over by overseas company...and now...GONE!....Even such a big blue chip company can disappear from the market...so not all giants are spared...trade with a cut loss mindset..play with head not heart

OMG, DBS research for Genting Singapore remain HOLD.

"FY09 profit exceeded our and market expectations
due to lower pre-operating losses."
"Cut 2010-2012F earnings by 23-37% due to slower
than expected ramp up. Maintain Hold, TP slashed to
S$1.07 (from S$1.20)."
