Main thing is whether there is share dilution.  Consolidation in itself is not a bad thing

Recently there has been a trading halt for the alignment of distribution.  The only thing to concern if this company decided to have a consolidation of share to boost share price, it would have an adverse impact and would only hurt us.  Hope they dont go into this move yet.

In theory, what iwonder states is true with your examples given. In reality, it may be a different case.  Look at a few companies with consolidation history, some make it if the company has strong backing, some dont if they did it prematurely.  This is a strategy that may not necessary achieve the desired outcome.  There are companies with good PE, EPS, NAV ratio but wont move as much as those with strong backings even with a less favourable PE, EPS or ROI.  Rotational play at work.

Theoretically, a consolidation would not affect shareholders.  For example, if the share is now trading at 2 cents, a consolidation of 10 to 1 would make the shares priced at 20 cents.  The root cause to why Sapphire shares cannot go up is because there are too many shares for the market to digest..

The NTA, EPS, PE ratio will look more attractive after consolidation.  With less shares in the market, the price would be easier to rise and they can even give bonus.

Had an informal session with CEO......he updated the current situation in Si Chuan and China.  The sale of vanadium by Special Steel is 100% booked pre-production. It has become a legislation that all steel buildings in Sichuan must be strengthen with vanadium.  The Chinese government is clamping down on all small iron and steel mills in a bid to consolidate the industry.  After the consolidation, Special Steel will be even stronger.

They have big plans for Sapphire........Among other things it may be a major aquisition.......haha...hopefully no rights.....they are one year behind schedule because of the financial crisis.

Frankly speaking if you compare this company 3 years ago and now, do you find the difference? in terms of asset and reserves?   We have sown the seeds...   just wait for the harvest !!

I have been queuing many days trying to get at bid price but never successful...even when I queue

immediately after market closed.  It appears that institutions are already in front of us during the 1700 to 1705 timing.

Looks like a cornered stock -------- 13,7% of shareholders below 1,000 lots

Sapphire's stake in China Vanadium is worth about $175 mil and its price in Hong Kong Exchange is rising.

If a company is doing well, the share price will automatically be taken care off in due time !

Just wait for the developments to unfold.....Cheers !

in newspaper today
Corporate restructuring at Sapphire Corporation
Catalist-listed steel goods producer Sapphire Corporation is undergoing restructuring that will result in the company holding a direct 9.2-per-cent stake in a Hong Kong-listed iron ore company China Vanadium Titano-Magnetite Mining Company (China VTM).

The restructuring will also free up its shares worth $175 million for possible sale to help boost shareholder value, the company said in a filing with the Singapore Exchange.

Sapphire will acquire this direct stake in China VTM from its subsidiary Trisonic, which owns a 57.5-per-cent stake in China VTM, for about $47.5 million. Jo-Ann Huang

Now that the prices of iron and steel has risen and is set to rise further, it only make sense to have a direct controlling stake.  Hopefully, this price increase will be reflected in the 1st Q results.

hmmm good good hahaha thats happy news thank u

waves88      ( Date: 12-Apr-2010 16:53) Posted:

Of course it is better to have direct stakes than indrect stakes...easier to control...

This also raises the EPS to 1.49 cents, thus meaning thereotically the stocks is worth at least 15 cents.

Also this may pave the way for a transfer to the mainboard .
