Singtel Bullish???

Monday - SingTel rose as much as 1.5% to S$4.08, its highest in nearly 5.n.half years. Nearly 8 million shares changed hands, making SingTel one of the most actively traded stock by value.

SingTel, Singapore's largest company by mkt capitalisation, posted a 33% drop in 4th-quarter net profit, but said it will pay a final dividend of 10 cents a share, up from 9 cents a year ago.

The company's Australian unit, Optus, has announced plans to roll out Australia's first multi-band 4G network.

For me, as long as support lines have not been broken with high volume, I would believe the uptrend is still intact. Let's see how price action goes in the coming sessions. Price is steadily nearing the pre-financial crisis high. But as we have seen in other markets (i.e. Dow), it is certainly possible to even go higher than that. I hope I'm not being overly optimistic but again, the technicals are still supportive for me to stay vested at this stage.

Selling of its stake in Warid has already been done a few months ago, and the loss was just reflected in the books last quarter. Another thorn is Bharti at the moment, and Optus is also struggling. 

Saw several analysts reports who have increased their target price. This is good news. Am still vested, aligning with the old adage of letting your profits run. Now the question is, how much more legs does it have in its run? Will it shoot up to its pre-financial crisis high? Hope so!

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, Southeast Asia's largest telecommunications operator, posted on Wednesday a 33 per cent fall in fourth quarter net profit, hurt by a one-time loss arising from the sale of its stake in Pakistan's Warid.

SingTel, Singapore's largest company by market capitalisation, earned S$868 million (US$698.42 million) in the three months ended March, down from S$1.29 billion a year ago.

The Singapore telco's underlying net profit - which excludes one-off items - dipped 2 per cent to S$1 billion from S$1.02 billion a year ago.

Despite the weaker result, SingTel said it will pay a final dividend of 10 Singapore cents a share, up from 9.0 Singapore cents a year ago.

 

Guys, my mistake. The earnings result wasn't today after all. Read from another report it will be tomorrow. Hope for the best to all stakeholders!

SingTel did well to be shortlisted, Yoma too oso  among the 12." It's probably the next big stimulus !!! for SingTel  and for Myanmar Telecom Industries. Is Telemedia shortlist too..??.

Noted  - I read somewhere in CNA  -  " An article that read  some consortiums related to Myanmar Ministers maybe biased in getting a contractual license." (Just maybe...how true isit..??)

This seems to be a constant thorn in Singtel's overall results, quarter after quarter. Compare that to Starhub, still resilient today in the face of this broad based selloff. Is $4 still on track?

 

First it was our President, next is Defence Ministry. Dr Ng Eng Hen is in Myanmar for an introductory visit. He called on Myanmar President Thein Sein.

Dr Ng's visit underscores the warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between Myanmar and Singapore.
