Thanks for the link. Gd news I supposed. So, I guess we investors will be receiving the offer letter soon? What happens if we continue holding this stock? Is the stock going to trade at 1.73? Any prediction if the price will be heading north or south?

Thanks.

How to be a value investor?  What is good fundamental stock? I know not anymore. Just sigh. There is not just the Bull and Bear market.  There is also the Shark market too!

the 200million saving came from us. Plus those holding at a higher price are also ***** by them. This method is something that i would spit on if their offer is anything less than 1.6...

For about the past 15 months, supply of hotel and service apt have lagged demand resulting in high occupancy and record room rates. This has resulted in robust earnings for AG. Herein lies the opportunity for AG to realise the value of their assets by hiving these off to Ascott Reit (ART) at a high price.

Parent Co. CapitaLd, faced with the prospect of a slowing property market, is probably looking for new revenue stream. By mopping up the balance of AG shares and making it a wholly owned subsidiary, they can get 100% benefit of the unlocking of AG value. Cost to CapitaLd for this GO is estimated at about 690mil (based on offer price of 1.30)...........cheap.......

Looking at the charts, I guess they started depressing AG price from 1 Nov07 from the 1.68 level. ......depriving small shareholders but saving them about 200mil......

If they offer you $1.70- $1.80. We should be happy. Just a wild guess.

ykjuay,

At $2.50, they need not have gone thru the trouble to drive down the price of AG. I think its an overly optimistic price.

So if 1.30 can hold for better price in the future?

i still feel that the offer range should be between 1.25 to 1.4(max with abit of luck). Since it was whacked down by them to buy it cheap thus realistic price will be 1.3 imho... Smiley

CapitaLd holds 66.8% of AG.

edfedf,

Will have to wait for release of GO details to assess the implications.

Suspect it will be in CapitaLd's favour cos at about current price level of 1.20, they are getting a very good deal.

According to FY06 AR, 32.78% of Ascott Group is held by public and > 12,000 shareholders (of 14,700 shareholders) have 10 lots or less. As long as they don't secure more than 90% of the shares, CapitaLd cannot force it to go private.

The downside is.......91.4% of the shareholders have > 1 million shares...i.e. held by BB.
