have been vested since past years
yea to be honest, i was expecting it to go up, but not this fast.
like i said, follow the trend. it's shooting up now; so perhaps worth a quick play.
pros to this:
stland first wave had a fibo retracement to 37c lowest. so 2nd wave will follow same pattern have retracement likely greater than brokerage cost (unlike EDMI where i don't even dare to sell out of the counter since very fast movement, tight range during stagnant period, and might not be able to catch back)---long story short: can perhaps play a certain percentage trading, a certain percentage FA holding. Lock in some profit first. dunno how much you have so ya gotta decide the % split. If you can catch the wave, you can conceivably lock in more profit and buy back lower. timing is very very important here tho. So only do it if you're sure.
cons to playing:
be careful tho: its FYE is end may. so if you sell out and intend for FA holding to buy back, make sure you can buy back in time. Wld be a bit silly to have to buy back at higher price, esp if you didn't invest the money elsewhere.
note: perhaps sell out only if you are eyeing another stock with higher potential upside than stl. 'cos really, it's on a very strong uptrend. if you're not eyeing another counter, then perhaps no sense selling.
even when smiling bigger than a smile, always keep rational.
never shoot your winners, remember?
cheers! :)
Elf: I did. Did so during the 'earthquake' on the 1st day March. HEEHEEE. I was attracted because it was trading at a discount then. I started watching since January. It was persistently staying above 40c and therefore no go.
You are right, smile doesn;t even begin to describe the expression.

While I was patient before buying in and was willing to hold for long term because of it's fundamentals, I am less sure of what to do now with this big volume and big price surge. It was meant to be my FD... now more like striking a lottery.
eastonbay, stland closed lunch time 53c. a smile doesn't even begin to describe the expression on my face. :P did you vest??
victorian, no need to worry. mei mei here keeping very close watch on counter; notification of storm code sent out to shplayer alr. watch the targets, ppl. it'll keep moving, so follow the trend.
reiterate for the newbies here: tech target is 58-63c. the first wave for stl was 28c to 43c. then retraced to 37c. This is the second wave only. Follow the trend, because i can't be online all the time to warn ppl to sell. Also: all targets are arbitrary, remember that: if stl keeps going up past 63c, and there's strong buy vols still, there's no reason to sell, esp since we're close to divvy date.
Eyes open and just follow the trend.
all decisions at own mind and risk ah.

Elf, another good reason to smile.

Bluebox,
Thanks for the compliments....but what I know about the company is public knowledge......can be found in the AR and announcements......no rocket science about it...but perhaps abit of work in doing some research and analysis.
As for target price, I usually don't have TP. I invest in a stock if I think the FA ratios show good value and if the company has growth potential......for the next 1 - 3 years...or more. When growth potential plateaus or begins to dip, I divest. About 5 months ago, some analysts (I think KE) valued SLC at about 60+cts after the sale (or purchase?) of the Grand Hotel by Tuan Sing.
As for analysts or fund managers, I don't pay much attention to their reports. In fact, I'd rather they do not know about the stock....then I can accumulate at my own leisure and price.........until, of course, I have accumulated my target quota.
shplayer,
I'm quite impressed with your knowledge in Stamford Land. I like this company very much too, falls under low risk high return type. In fact, this is currently my largest holding, after divesting my stakes in OUE and recently LKH.
Can share with us your price target for Stamford Land? I have a RNAV of about $1, so a price target of 70-80c should be achievable. The whole world is crazy over hotel assets and Stamford Land is the largest hotel owner-operator in Australia. Australia is ranked top in the world in terms real estate transparency by JLL Hotels, which property funds like most. Unfortunately, our fund managers and analysts are just not aware... nevermind, we'll wait...
Cheers!
Vic,
Cannot have finger in every pie. In the list of stocks that we find value, we still need to allocate our resources according to what we believe will give us best returns. As long as we meet or exceed our investment objectives, we should be happy. As for me, I would also like to get into Second Chance.....but currently, do not have sufficient resources to make a meaningful investment.
slowly but surely creeping upwards....still undervalued compared to tuan sing...and Stamford have premium hotel chain and properties in CBD areas....
thanks shplayer! any tech you wanna know just lemme know. mail or on fellowship

when is stl releasing/released its FYE results?

oh cool, SJ has emoticons now! hehe. thanks admin!

agesis,
Not an authority on tax matters....whether there is DTA with Australia, what the terms and cdtns of DTA if there is....etc.......but looking at the way Co. has been declaring divvy, I think not.
shplayer, thanks for pointing that out.
Since the company is operating in Aussie, can I assume that it should not have any Section 44 tax credit?

vic,
Don't think company has a formal div policy......but as agesis said, historically, they have been generous with their divident.
agesis,
Yes, last year eps was 2.41 cts.....div was 3.0 cts less tax....so, eps net of tax (20%) is 2.4cts.
Also, if you look at their operating cash flow ($61m+) per share is 7.1cts.
Another point....I don't think you can do a direct extrapolation of the 3Q eps to derive the FY07 eps. This is cos:
- In the first 3 quarters, the hotel division was operating without the Auckland Stamford Hotel as it was undergoing renovations from Apr to Oct 2006.
- Because of the Aussie accounting policy, 3Q result included the topline and bottomline of the sale of 50 units of the luxury apt in Sydney.....that was the main contributory factor for the stella 3Q result. Also, the Auckland hotel reopened for business during 3Q.
Based on the 3Q result, EPS for 3Q (end Dec 06) is 3.08ct . If we annualised it, the estimated full yr EPS is at least 4ct. Stamford have been quite generous with their dividend payout for the past years.
One thing puzzle me though. The EPS for last FY was 2.41ct but stamford pay out a ordinary dividend of 2ct + 1 ct special dividend on last FY. Are they using the excess cash holding to pay out the special dividend.
Vested, looking forward to another handsome dividend of at least 3.5ct in May.

Hi frens,
Just vested based on good FA. Used to be a TA fellow, but time for some FA play liao.
Peace
vic,
2001 to 2005.....1.5cts less tax
2006.................3.0 cts less tax
forecast for 2007......about 4.0 cts....due to profit from property development.
elfie,
Good luck with this investment.
