Correction - should be 1.7c for the mother shares, and 1.2c for the wrt. DYODD.

serene      ( Date: 07-Mar-2013 08:02) Posted:

The support level at 1.2c is pretty strong over the last few days - a good entry point for those eager to partake in the ride to Myanmar. Let's hope another SSH comes along - a win-win partnership would be the Myanmar partner (Myanmar Golden Star Group)  come in to scoop up a 20-30% stake from the open market in mDR! DYODD.

If they need to submit details by 4 april then expect a lot of agreement annoucement this month. Myanmar telco play could be back again.

I still think it does not matter who wins the tender. MDR will get a piece of the action with their JV company already incorporated with the likes of GMS as a partner. Hope this stock will fly soon as it has not been played for 2 months already. Myanmar telco play coming?

Link courtesy of Kong from Ntegrator thread. Critical information extracted from article  below. 11 April will be a important date. Now we know why Mdr had to annouce " head of agreement" with GMS group. Further prove that it is must to work with an " experienced" foreign operator.

http://www.mmtimes.com/index.php/national-news/4253-telecom-giants-edge-closer-to-myanmar-s-market.html

The committee also released a set of prequalification requirements on February 21, with the deadline for submissions set for April 4, giving interested parties little time to put together their applications. The committee will then announce which consortia passed prequalification on April 11

“Conversely, in view of the experience requirements of the operator, it seems that local partners will have to work with a foreign operator in order to prequalify,” the analysis adds.

Additionally, “the applicant must provide a copy of ‘any memorandum of understanding, joint venture agreement, or other similar agreement relating to the Myanmar-registered entity’.

Yes a lot of work in terms of infrastructure. Sim cards are running dry in Myanmar so hopefully the government will make a push to speed up license so that work can start asap.

From reports I have read, Its almost certain that Singtel will get a license. Politically Singapore are very " close" & " stable" to Myanmar and have been helping to set up their systems. They are  also the biggest teleco in  SE Asia.  They are also bidding together with local Myanmar company so that is even a better leverage then other competitors. Do you see a link now with Mdr  already joint venturing with Myanmar biggest GMS group to provide exclusive consultancy and retail distribution services?

Note that there is 2 local and 2 foreign lience to be given. Currently there is 2 local company that already holds the license.    There is also chances that Mdr could be work with local company that already had the  licence.

My guess is how its going to be run is already " fixed" just finalising details. If not why would Mdr so confident already set up a subsidiary in Myanmar.

Good news will come...question is big it is.

Ok, thanks. Did not really follow the developments. Why would they benefit from a Singtel win? With so many bidders, outcome very uncertain. But I do agree with the share consolidation followed by rights issue thing, makes sense.

gufeng      ( Date: 03-Mar-2013 10:19) Posted:

The contract will make a difference. There will be more to gain if it can get contract with Singtel to be their exclusive retailer then selling on its own. With GMS group I believe they are already in good hands so we have to see how huge they going to gain when we are clear who have the license. It will be earlier then Jun as they have few stages of approval, by AprhMay we should have clearer picture of who is still in the game.

If they have big contract it may be imminent rights issue & share consolidation will happen. Thats when you reduce the share float & price will shoot up. My guess why share price have been kept low could be due to this by would be investors.

You are right with or without contract Mdr defintely will gain in Myanmar. My bet is 0.04-0.05 by Jun. Good luck those who vested.

Actually, the results of the tender in June is irrelevant. Does not matter who gets the license. All it matters is that Myanmar'a telecom sector will grow and MDR can take advantage of that surely.

Hold tight but with 8bn shares and 4bn wrts, can't expect too much upside. Sianz
