From a FA standpoint... not technical.. I did some homework.

a. NTA of stock is 76c.

at current share price. there is a still 20c more to go just to have a price to book ratio of 1X

b. if u looks at Cosco, it is trading at 1.5X book value so from a price to to book ratio, mermaid is severly undervalue

c. shareholding spread. as of 15 May 2009, the top 25% controls 95% of the outstanding share capital of 550m shares.

there is only 5% left in the public. In other words, this stock is a cornered stock.

the BB can mark their price whichever way they want it.

d. The strartegy for this stock is not to trade it actively, u are likely to get screwed as pricing will be volatile

but to take a 3 to 6mths view when it goes up very stylishly back to 1.5X book value or about $1.3 or IPO price.

e. coy is profitable and cashflow positive. all its ships have been chartered out. The loss is due to recognizing cost.. almost 135m thai baht with zero revenue from those ships that have already been charterted out. the next quarter and going forward should be very good. even with the losses, coy cashflow is very positive.

vested

Good News for holders of this counter.  MERMAID wins a Contract.

MERMAID AWARDED CONOCO PHILLIPS INDONESIA’S 2009 INSPECTION, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACT

Latest project valued at approximately US$7.85 million was secured by Mermaid’s subsidiary Seascape Surveys.

Mermaid Maritime Public Company Limited (“Company”) wishes to announce that its subsidiary PT Seascape Surveys Indonesia (“Seascape Surveys”) has been awarded the 2009 Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) contract by Conoco Phillips Indonesia. The project, which will commence in early June 2009, will utilize Mermaid Offshore Services Ltd.’s (“MOS”) chartered DP2 vessel M.V. ‘Binh Minh’, and MOS’ remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems. Seascape Surveys will be providing survey, positioning and reporting on the project which has a total value of approximately USD 7.85 million and is scheduled to run for approximately four (4) months.

The Seascape Surveys group provides hydrographic survey and positioning services to the offshore oil and gas industry. Prior to MOS’ acquisition of 80% of this group in 2008, they were MOS’ largest subcontractor. MOS is a wholly owed subsidiary of the Company. The acquisition allowed the implementation of the Company’s strategy to provide a range of high quality sub-sea engineering services “in-house”.

Additional Disclosures Pursuant to SGX Requirements:

Financial Effects

Assuming that the contract had commenced and had been completed within the most recent financial year (the Company’s last financial year ended 30 September 2008), the performance of the contract would have had a material effect on the earnings per share of the Company for that financial year and the performance of the contract would not have had an effect on the net tangible assets per share of the Company for that financial year.

Interest of Directors and Controlling Shareholders

None of the directors or controlling shareholders of the Company has any interest, direct or indirect, in the contract. There are also no new directors proposed to be appointed to the Company in connection with the contract.

Please be informed accordingly.

The correction was from 64 cents to 47 cents ,then rebound to 55.5 cents , that was a resonable retreat of 50% , previous trading of 59 cents was unsustainable which I adviced to take some profit , then the price will sink to the 50% mark n sideway for a while ,  waiting for a clear signal to pick up again .

still early days.....the numbers from the coy is really solid.

cashflow is extremely positive. Some hiding of numbers though....

classic, disclose loss (but cashflow postiive)....and report good numbers in subsquent quarters.

In the meantime, move counter inch by inch till reporting time.. then sell on news.

Counter will easily head back above $1 in a few mths time or not weeks.

right now, I'm focus on those counters that have RTO events.

In a depress market... RTOs plays have the potential to be huge winners over time.

Look at achieva.. really happy with it. my remaining shares are free now....plus got dividend.

there are others.. will write about them.
