Universal studio has to fine tune the operation according to Asian style in order to attract asian tourists.
Sands also has to be extra careful on its bets on the slot machines to that of its competator's level i.e. genting sentosa.
Singapore is providing a 'Land' to the outsider operators to operate their businesses, if outsider fail to make profit and withdraw, we can turn universal studio into Hello Kitty land, or , Barbie dolls or whatever so long as not those as super big scale as disney land.
Sentosa has still rooms for more such mideum scale operators to come forward, we can release it bit by bit, over the years, to remain our attractivenss to the booming tourism industry.

The opening was a flop and did not attract big crowds. Even media dare not to release visitors number yest. The season ticket bought are corporate deals to get discount. Will be another HK disneyland disaster...

Any business will come to a saturating point. US casinos have lost some 20% of profit over the years, partly due to 'on-line' casino and betting.
Las vagas slot machine can be as high as US$10.00 and how many ppl cld afford that?
We shall see if Sands at Marina Bay how they accord their bets on slot machine and if is comparable to Genting sentosa, if bet is too high, they might lose the crowd to Genting sentosa. |

They even extend yest opening free for public to view the firework display. Very pathetic coz no crowd to support.
Btw, Tokyo disneyland is still performing strongly even when market was down last yr. Spore don't have the unique culture and size to really attract tourists. When Korea universal studio & shangai casino are up...we can close shop liao

This CIMB analyst thinks our universal studio will going to attrach big crowds. Think he never been to Vegas and Macau. The night live is so lively and happening over there as compare to Spore with so many restrictions. I dare to bet with CIMB that the resort will be a flop. Starting will be loud to all but the crowd & excitement will very soon disappear. Spore is too juz too small and boring to attact tourists...they most come for a day then travel to regional country to relax..
When that happens this analyst will give a SELL advice.. |

theres a group that wanna buy low and one group that wanna sell high. two groups of one lotter. one sell down one sell up... too bad am going out today or it will be funny to see who cave first haha Yesterday due to the persistance of the sell down one lotter who is trying to buy low. thats why price fell so low. if not think it would not fall so much
Despite today is
gaming group’s grand opening of its Universal Studios theme park in
Singapore, Genting was one of the STI's worst performers who declined
2.6% to S$0.94. However it is important to note that the sell down VOL
is LOW @ 0.11billion shares traded therefore I would not think too much
of this.
Immediate resistance of Genting: $0.985
Immediate support of Genting: $0.9
Currently Genting is just at middle of support and resistance, just monitor first loh. I would not think that there will be a mass sell down tomorrow. Just my 2 cents.
SEE CHARTS
tmr will be critical, should be another fighting day!
What's the stakes of your bet with CIMB?

Stocks never go up in a straight line...
By the look of things, a market bull phase of sorts is underway...
look like 97 cts immediate resistance cant break it...might consolidating for awhile side trend
Like Casino LEVY, there should be an ANALYSIS LEVY.
An Analysis Report can only be issued if the Analyst's institution
either BUY at least 1 Million shares on the issue date for a BUY CALL
or SELL at least 1 Million shares on the issue date for a SELL CALL
or HOLD at least 1 Million shares on the issue date for a HOLD CALL
This is tO prOve that ANALYSTS put mOney where their mOuth are.
LEAD BY EXAMPLE & WALK THE TALK.
It is alsO FAIR tO the Investing Readers.
No matter what, it is still a brand new attraction.
The crowds will come in just to see it.
In the meantime, since it has broken out two days ago, it's been doing well on the upside.
This goes to show shorting is never a preferred idea on a breakout...

Maintain Trading Buy on Genting Singapore.
We came away from yesterday's preview tour of a fully-operational Universal Studios Singapore (USS) generally impressed. Although we were slightly disappointed that USS will be opening with one less attraction than the initially intended 19, we like the mix of 18 attractions. Meanwhile, our latest checks confirm that Resorts World Sentosa's gradual operational ramp-up remains on track. We view the opening of USS, arguably the resort's key attraction, positively as it should attract a new wave of visitors.
We are keeping our FY10-12 earnings estimates and sum-of-the-parts target price of S$1.23.
The stock remains a TRADING BUY with key stock catalysts being:
1) a quicker-than-expected ramp up;
2) USS's public debut today; and
3) a longer-than-expected monopoly if its rival opens later.

May be a block of 3 hours? Is this enough for a 'leisure gamblers' or htose 'office workers'? Something has to work out so that these people will finish off the 3 hours and, WILL NOT return the same day, unless they want to.... I strongly feel this is necessary for, i saw many young office workers (female and males) holding one whole stack of money just play the slot machine especially the 'wheel of fortune'!! This is a scary scene, did they make as much as they can lose?? or did they compromise giving their house-hole expenses to their parents or family for gambling?

How about hourly charge (or per minute charge) up to a maximum of $100per day. So for those who to only "look see look see" then it can be very cheap. They can pay using the cashcard. Haha

Can we propose to our government to be more flexible to have $50 levy fee (for half day) and $100 for those who want to be there 24 hours.
