There is no limit to BUY on nil-paid rights. BUY does not related to how many mother shares you have.

However, you need to be sure of your BUDGET, because your total cost for  doing this method is equal to

1.Market  Price of nil-paid rights.

2. Trade commision,tax etc of item 1.

3. Exercise price of $1.09 to convert to mother share.

You add up and get the total for your plan of purchase.

The rights issue price is FIXED at S$1.09 per share. So if you buy nil-paid rights at market price (whatever it is) during the rights trading period, you just need to pay S$1.09 per share via ATM, before the deadline 2 June 9pm.

Hi Masters,

Can someone assit me on this:

i bot Kepland yesterday (i don't deserved Rights issue) and wish to buy NIL rights later. my broker told me i can buy the nil rights and convert to common stock before the closure date via ATM.

If i buy nil rights at $0.90 (example) then how much i need to pay to convert into common stock?

usually during nil paid rights trading, will price of mothershare move up or down?

and after rights trading, the price will be lower than it was during the XR period because of dilution right?

I dont tink will earn big money one, i go SGX website and look at CDP buy in List of Kep Land  for these 2 days,

13 May 2009          37,000 Shares             $112,480                 $3.04 per Share

12 May 2009          61,000 Shares             $193,553                 $3.173 per Share

I dont noe whether the per share pricing is calculated this way, but if so, then really not worth it to short woh,

other then the difference this still have the 5% penalties and $30 processing fee for each contract,

then dont noe whether need to pay additional broker fee or not lei .

Any senior can advice ??

Hi Matthewsoh,

i saw this acrticles in the Straits Time today (Money pg B16)

It says, a penalty of 5% of the value of failes trade ( Think refering to Short Selling), with a minimum penalty of $1,000.

This is on top of a $30 processing fee SGX levies for each contract on the buying in market.

And settlement of penalty needs to be done within 5 Days of failling to settle thier trades.

Hope this helps.

May I ask this question ? I know there is a penalty on short selling. however if someone sell 500 lots of kepland and last day of CR and forced sell at XR date, will the penalty be higher than what he gain and also what about the CR issue for those who bought them ? just curious and hope some master level investor can help me , thank you!

i'll rather buy from the open market after the rights are converted to main shares, for long term investing. now is too risky to speculate....

so hedge your kepland with kep corp ? sure win .. for long term. Kepland after right subcription may not drop if they know what good news to inject. Capitaland is 5 times subscribed , looking at the CR trading volume , the rights could easily  be taken up .

Dilution may or maynot take place but inflation may cost the stock price to be consider cheap in the long run. i believe blue chips are 1 -2 dollar two years ago is also becos koi is 5 and 10 cents and one house is 20k .. so yup

even thought its parent company pledged to pay for the rights, inorder for her not to spend all her $ away, she got to make it attractive for ppl to subscribe to the rights. the only way is to push up the price.Let ppl feel its worh to buy it. once ppl paid for the rights. the value wil drop. the advantages are keppel corp will not hv to pay anything while keppel land will hv $ again. then, price will drop again...

Sorry these research reports are meant for breakfast digestion. I realised how inaccurate they are when you compared their past reports against current situations now. I dont know they still dare to put their names on their reports haha.. Remember some report maintain buy at 1.5 for rickmers when later it crash to 0.5 and some report to say sell at 4.5 for keppel corp and the stock chiong to 7. I dont know what is their agenda of these reports, quite shameful if i wrote these for people for reference. Low social responsiblity but high commercial purpose. haha
