red1721,

xd on 20 Nov.......next Mon. If you sell on 20 Nov, you will get div.....but still have to wait for payout date to see your $$$.

18th is Sat...so cannot sell.

If you sell on 17th (Fri) , you will not get the div.

Yes... you're right. Starhub is probably on a downtrend now. I'm holding on for the dividend payouts.

sporegal,

Tks for the encouragement.....

I am basically a FA practioner and have found this to suit me well. Prior to the internet days, where info is not readily available, my investments were mainly based on mkt rumours, broker's recommendations and analysts reports. Needless to say, I paid alot of tuition fees.

My reason to delve into TA is not to substitute it for FA. I will continue to base my investment decisions on FA but plan to use TA to time my entry and/or exit. With this combination, I hope will help me squeeze abit more on my gains/ cut possible losses and make my capital work more efficiently.

However, having said that, StarHub was the first investment I based solely on TA....did not do my research (due diligence) on the counter before taking the plunge.........but no problem.....its part of the learnng process.

It took me about 3-6 months and 5-6 trades before I found stuck to a technique that suits me best and gives me reasonable profits. Still learning today.

Hi shplayer,

Not every trading method works 100% everytime. I have an accuracy of about 70% - meaning that 70% of my trades are profitable. Don't be discouraged by just 1 setback. Learn what happened and adjust your trading technique.

For me, I also bought into Starhub based on TA. While it has not performed up to my expectations, I have not made a great loss on this counter. I am still holding on to it because it has not yet triggered my stop-loss rule.

Hi, shplayer, the answer is Yes.

$2.11 is the most recent support and the counter headed up from there to hit a high of $2.24. This high must be breached and clear through $2.28 for the uptrend to sustain. On the other hand, in a worse case scenario, when the support at $2.11 is compromised, a clear downtrend would have been established. I will definitely let go if the price hits $2.10.

allantanhc,

what is your stop loss trigger.....5% down from 2.20? so at about 2.10?

This is first counter I went in based on TA.......so abit disappointed with the outcome.........perhaps TA is not in my lucky stars.

Hi allantanhc,

Yah... Noble group is a classic case of the usefulness of TA in predicting trends. Signs of weakness appeared shortly before I cashed out.

Hi, Singaporegal, thanks for your clarification. Didn't have chance to read postings in this forum until now. I do think that Starhub is worth holding at this price and its upward potential is good. Having said that, it also very much depends on how prices move. Once stop loss point is triggered, I will also let go to protect capital.

A good example was Noble Group. It was doing pretty well two weeks ago and suddenly came the bombshell today. Lucky to have escaped. it just goes to show how important is to adopt a strict discipline and decisiveness in cutting loss at the earliest possible moment.

Jasjasjas, Sing introduce set-top box that will connect to your TV directly. Similiar to Star. The set-top box acts likes a computer (or the IPTV PC), but it is a box.  Of course, I presume you may watch via PC.... Check up the Sing's website, they are asking for people to join the trial till  Mar 07.

hi, i dont quite understand why sing wants to fight with star on the EPL. Does it mean that if sing wins, viewers would have to watch from iptv PC instead of TV ?

tanglinboy,

Co already paid out 5cts div for FY06. Now they announce another 3cts for 3Q 06.

They said that baring any unforeseen problems, they expect to pay out total 11cts for FY06.....i.e. final div will be another 3 cts.

So, there is total of 6cts div for balance of FY06.......Co is therefore currently trading at about 5% yield.....tax free.....equal to 6.25% yield less tax.

Hi allantanhc... sorry... I posted wrongly in the wrong forum. I was referring to my Wing Tai share... will probably sell off today.

For Starhub, I'll probably hold to collect the Div.

As expected, good results do not mean it will go up for sure... now , having buy price at 2.20... think we should hold it longer.
