If market is weak for the next few session, $5 support level is going to become resistance soon...

teeth53 tot: Local property prices can still drop, given those (demand) are not around to pick up just yet, alot will take part to risk buying into it while some will take profit d moment when price move up which is enuff to make them richer by a few thousand $$$. The trick is when demand is low...buy, then sell for whatever price may have move up when demand is high. Profit this day may not be great. Pls note Nov07 slide & now.....

Yes, you are right... :)

The first principle in stock market play (call it investing or trading, etc) is to preserve one's capital
to play another day.

But by the very nature of the stock market, it is so very hard to do easily.
Because when the market rises a bit, usually one will not sell... simply because optimism is then widespread.

Good advice. Yes, always keep losses at the minimum. Preserve capital.

But there's a good remedy...

ie. Dump when the losses are still small!...

It is as simple as that... all you need is to do it... Smiley

Don't even think of buying this one until it reaches $3 ... and even then, only consider it that's all. This one is a potentially troubled stock, with negative exposure in Australand, heavy billion-dollar commitments in Farrer and Leedon, plus China exposure which was providing a growth angle but a danger to it now. Must be the most negative STI component.

Price wise, quite tempting to buy but TA is still not clear yet to buy. Traders can take a punt if they dare to take risk. For me, i'll wait.

With US $ strengthening, oil is falling to $115.20 or $4.82......read this: for more info: http://money.cnn.com/2008/08/08/markets/oil/index.htm?postversion=2008080815

Oil is traded in dollars, and investors had been using it and other commodities to hedge against inflation. But as the dollar began to rebound, investors shifted their money to other investments such as stocks and bonds.

Investor fears about the deterioration in the European economy contributed to the dollar's rebound. Poor economic reports rom the 15-nation euro zone on Friday followed a decision by the European Central Bank a day earlier to hold a key interest rate steady in order to keep cash flowing to the financial industry.

"So much of the buying we saw since last August when oil was trading at $68 a barrel was predicated on a weak dollar," said Peter Beutel, an oil analyst with Cameron Hanover Oil. "As the dollar is gaining now, we're seeing an unwinding of those positions in oil."

"There's no reason why we can't see an unwinding of positions back to the $68 to $79 level," said Beutel. "This market can always go further and faster than anyone will believe."

Oil has fallen more than $32, or nearly 22%, from the record high of $147.27 set July 11

I have also realised that although property counters suffers today, this chap kena the most. For the last 5 trading days, it had dropped from 5.60 to 4.80+ (about 15%) already. Yah, elf may be right, rebound is around the corners. I dun usually wait for rebound to happen and held on my share dearly. I will get in when that happens, meantime, I will cut when my entry is wrong. Cheers!
