DJ MARKET TALK: CIMB Lowers Hong Leong Asia Target To S$4.88................. 5/31/2010 11:09:00 AM .................... 0309 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: CIMB cuts Hong Leong Asia (H22.SG) target price to S$4.88 from S$5.78, based on sum-of-parts valuation, after reducing FY10-12 core EPS estimates by 5%-15% to assume lower earnings for China units Xinfei, Yuchai. Says after strong 1Q10 performance, engine sales for Yuchai could slow in coming quarters given China's tightening measures. Notes Xinfei, which makes refrigerators and other electrical appliances, facing increased price competition with rivals expanding production capacity, cutting prices to gain market share. Still, keeps Outperform call. Notes stock trades below 3-year forward P/E average of 12X; "the stock remains a good proxy for Chinese consumer and infrastructure demand, notwithstanding slight challenges in the near term." Shares +1.3% at S$3.24.
This news may slow down the upside, no wonder not moving much. Uptrend still intact?
Thanks.

purelotus ,
You are right , the first resistance would be at 10MA, clearing which may meet another resistance which was a gap at $3.86 .

Bintang, I refer to your post below. Do you mean that, HL Asia will rebound to 3.5 (latest 10MA), before fill the gap @ $3.86? Why do you emphasis on the 10MA? Is it on TA point of view, rebound should meet 10MA to be valid rebound? Thanks. |

I hope you are wrong. :)
But I will be more extra careful with your gentle reminder.

Sorry to interrupt the flow of the dialogue...
I am inclined to believe that the 'carnage' is far from over for this stock,
I would have liked to believe that a classic "1-2-3" is present in this stock's chart,
but obviously it isn't.
I still think the overall market situation is rather 'ominous'.
Of course I can be wrong...
But then what's the big deal about being wrong?
If I am wrong, I simply have to admit that I was wrong! :)

HL Asia has just gone down to fill the gap at $2.98 to reach $2.94 today , it may first to rebound to $3.60 meeting 10MA , then to fill the gap at $3.86 later on . |

Hi purelotus ,
Since there is problem to read your PM, I think I can answer here . You mentioned about the MA you are using , I don't think it would be useful , all that three MA are all short term .Regarding the gaps in HL Asia , the gap at $2.94 has already been filled, n very fast it rebounded .And there is another gap at $3.86 waiting to be filled , therefore last Friday lowest point could be the near term bottom n strong support . Once the gap at $3.86 filled in short term rebounce , it may come down rapidly n ended the rebounce .Then the trend may go sideway for consolidation for some times . Therefore , gaps could be supports n resistances in the trends , we must deal with them seriously .

Hi Bintang, Please correct me if i am wrong. I want to get more understanding on gap. From HL Asia chart, i see 3 gaps are formed. A breakaway gap on 11 Jan 2010 ($3) & another breakaway gap on 5 May 2010 then runaway gap at 19 May 2010. You already mentioned that, it may re bounce to fill the gal at 3.86 (runaway gap). Am i right to say that, 3.86 is the new resistance, while the $3 as the new support? If this trend close below $3, HL Asia will be on serious downtrend? Thanks. |

If the momemtum is strong enough to push the price up to fill the gap at $3.86 , then the first round of the rebounce may have to be completed. The long positions must to be closed for it would come down again to fill the gap which would be created during the rebounce |

Bintang, thanks for the quick & timely advice, your knowledge of "gaps" is superb, what a close shave!

I only know that if able to break $3.36 next week, uptrend momentum will continue. These 2 days the buying momentum seems starting, 3 times more. Thought if break last 2 days low at 3.05 downtrend will continue. Need to learn more from you. I will take note of the 2 levels closely, $3.60 & $3.86.
