Labroy Marine (L26.SG) +2.5% at S$2.06, bucking decline by other STI stocks as investors expect company to benefit from Norwegian client Standard Drilling's plan to sell 2 Labroy-made jackup rigs for combined US$400 million. "The sale, once confirmed, will be positive news for Labroy, signaling a vote of confidence in a drilling contractor/operator," says DBS Vickers. Standard Drilling has total of 4 rig orders with Labroy. According to Norwegian firm's 1H07 interim report last month, progress of building all 4 rigs on schedule, with 2 rigs fully financed. DBSV says this removes risk of nonpayment for Labroy; "in the event the last two rigs are sold to a drilling contractor, this will strengthen Labroy's position in terms of payments and execution. Earlier concerns were centered around the fact that Standard Drilling is a speculator in rigs and may not be able to raise sufficient financing for the entire project." Mild volumes suggests upside capped, possibly at morning high of S$2.08. (FKH)
