Ten4one, we're talking about those who had tasted the fruits and can't continue to live without it at this technological advance world. Those who hasn't will join in sooner or later that's why Singtel's subscribers keep on growing. Off course there will be those who's 'not-of-age' citizens as you've mentioned, they will eventually decrease in numbers in years to come.
Overall, I'm still confident in this counter though I may think some analysts are just too optimistic.
Sliding down is always easier than climbing up. It is a volatile Market.............good trading opportunities as pointed out by kilroy. Cheers!
Farmer, wonder no more, just sum-up the populations of the countries that SingTel has interest in and adjust roughly the numbers of 'not-of-age' citizens or impairs and take away the number of Subscribers that SingTel has and you should be able to figure the number of people that are living without hp and internet services (not a single day, in fact, years!) Cheers!
Agreed. Looks likely to swing between $3.30 to $3.52, of course provided all other factors are aligned (FA, TA, sentiment, global influences from other mkts). Sigh... if only the outlay per lot isn't so high. Brokerage alone can devour a significant portion of the profit.
Signs of price exhaustion after today's session. Not sure if there will be a chance to flat this failure at 3.56/3.58SGD if DOW closes horrific RED in today's session. CCI touches oversold. ATR reversing signals a decline is volatility activities thus good for ranging play soon.
what i sthe new target price since Singtel posted good profit of 10.4% ?
SingTel Q1 profit up 10%, beats expectations...the results speak for itself!
Long time ago, Singtel's subscriber base were small as compared to now, hp & internet hasn't been as indispensable as what it has become today. Singtel was lucky to go in earlier to acquired assets cheaply.
I wonder.how many people can live without this 2 services for a single day?
Haha....I think SingTel needs more than just hp & internet svcs to stay ahead in earnings and grow the Company (surely not in Singapore). If it is that simple, SingTel should be a 'run-away train' trading at more than what you see today a long time ago!
What make thing worse for SingTel is now they've to fork-out more to acquire companies overseas. Of course, to grow organically overseas is almost 'politically-unthinkable' for Telco businesses. I'm not saying that the current mgmt would not be able to carry SingTel to new height, it is just becoming more 'difficult'..! Cheers!
Yes, analysts may be kidding sometimes. But, we can't deny Singtel's potential right now as the only Pan Asian Telco with subscribers over 136m and still counting.....Just consider this, can u and me today live without hp and internet service? The ans is obvious, and so does millions of people in asia and around the globe.
Waaah...10c spread just in a few hours work. 'Lucky' is an understatment - it is fantastic considering the Market's environment! Cheers!
Hi Farmer, I think UBS was joking ..........you can't value SingTel just based on ONE of the MANY INTERESTS of SingTel's investments. I think SingTel's investment in Thailand would wipe that clean if not worse........Just my own judgement..........
Well done! I MAY flat on a failure at 3.56/58. :)
Sold all at 3.54 in early trade. Late morning got it back at 3.44. Lucky !!
RSS feed from SJ. Didnt know 3G so hot. I know I am not one of the contributing subscriber. hehe.
Singapore Telecommunications - 3G rising up!
Nurwidya Abdul, 13 Aug 2007
SingTel says its subscriber base has reached 136.35 mln as of the end of June. This makes it the largest mobile customer base in Asia apart from China.
In just the previous quarter, the increase was 12.6 mln customers.
Year-on-year basis, mobile subscriber base was up 48%, which is equivalent to 44 mln ppl from 92 mln customers.
In terms of the region which includes Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Philippines, India and Singapore, figures rose 41% to 50 mln subscribers, compared to last year.
In Singapore, its customer base increased to 1.95 mln subscribers. There was also a jump of 124,000 in mobile subscribers,108,000 of which are prepaid mobile customers.
The number of 3G subscribers was up 17% to 544,000 compared to the previous quarter. This is mainly thanks to the availability of more attractive and interesting handsets at reasonable pricing.
UBS has raised its 12-month price target for Singapore Telecommunications to S$4.25 from S$3.90 after it revised its valuations for SingTel units Bharti Airtel (BRTI.BO: Quote, Profile , Research) and PT Telekomunikasi Selular (TLKM.JK: Quote, Profile , Research). [ID:nSFB000781] SingTel will report its quarterly results on Tuesday before the market open.
Just for the record...let's see how the analysts fair with respect to the actual numbers.
sell on a uptrend? why? sell on a consolidated uptrend. :)
Testing 3.58SGD again~
sold 70% to conserve some bullets...no regrets..

What else can I say, smartrader. Exit at 3.46 is equivalent to 3.62 CD! A smart move imo! I think Monday could see some pull-back due to rotational-play by Traders. Cheers!
smartrader, why exit..should keep until tuesday cos it announcing its result b4 the market open on tuesday. may be will cheong again...hope next week market will recover abit since most banks are intervening the markets with cash pumped in. cheers.
