Fundamentally, environmental play is a good long-term bet...

Since business activity geared along these lines will almost certainly grow regardless of geo-political factors which can plague other sectors... Smiley

All will depend on the funds buying into the green story...
If they are all psyched up to get a piece of it, they will surely snap up all the lots of those contra players who are trapped yesterday. And they may get it good low prices... the only remaining question is 'how low?'... Smiley

The problem is not at the end of today...

It will probably close @ 20.5 or 0.21...

The contra players who bought today are now already trapped ... Smiley

Contra players can turn into shortist in an attempt to recover their contra contract loss mah. We shall see the tussle between contra and short and see who wins at the end of the day :)

Closed on Friday @0.21.

Today, opened @.21, then shot up to 0.23 in the first hour on solid volume.

BUT... after touching 0.23, it went straight back down to 0.205 (ie below yesterday's close)!

This a bad technical sign!

Now it's trading @0.21.

Many contra players are now trapped...

mcking, you are absolutely right.  The selling looks like pretty much absorbed by now.  Taking this opportunity to add to my holdings.  Added today at 20.5.. Smiley

The carbon credit from CDM, in my opinion could be just a beginning.  With their knowhow, they could easily duplicate it elsewhere in Spore or even overseas.  This could be built as another profit generating arm of the company.

If you are vested in this company, please do so for the long haul.  I believe the company will be bringing more value to its shareholders.  Just go look at their profit growth for the past few years.  Its a testimony of its management effectiveness.

The last few days, this stock drop drastically.  This is due to the huge overhang of shares as a result of the 3 for 1 rights issue that started trading.

Unfortunately, the market could not absorb the selling and stock fell from 0.31 to 0.21.  Hopefully, the selling is finished and the stock can trade in a more orderly way.

Fundamentally, the stock is trading at a undemanding PE.  In addition, the company is profitable in its main business, i.e recycling and waste management.  The carbon credit revenue is an additional income incidental to their business operation.

I have at the very beginning always avoided what I don't know. One of that is carbon trading credits. I have asked some questions in the past (i think it was in the oculus forum)  but no one has answered those questions. So I feel it is better to avoid such carbon credit plays because few know really what it is.

Besides, I read recently it is almost impossible to monitor the integrity of such a carbon credit market. It could lead to rife corruption and abuse without a regulated monitoring system to ensure fair play between all the carbon players.

To tackle climate change, innovations in alternative fuels are a better bet than carbon trading credits. Just my opinion. For me, I would invest in alternative energy anytime which I can understand.

BTW, Singapore Airlines big boss speak up against carbon credits for airlines in the past. It's worth taking note why such an esteemed airline is against it. People who stick their neck out deserve respect than those who just herd along.
