i would say the levels at which one LONG or SHORT is most important; some of pp here are plainly brute in only one direction while in reality STI has a good recent rebound of 50% and Dow a good 66%. At any one times some stocks are overbought and some oversold, if any one is talking about the index, which warrant or future you are advocating?
Today the Dow may be down but some stock will still advance, this is a reality.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A closely-watched measure of consumer confidence fell sharply in February after three straight months of improvement, a research group said Tuesday.
The Conference Board, a New York-based research group, said its Consumer Confidence Index fell to 46.0 in February from an 56.5 in January.
According to a Briefing.com consensus survey, economists expected the index to fall slightly to 55.0 from 55.9. The index, which is based on a survey of 5,000 U.S. households, is closely monitored because consumer spending drives two-thirds of the nation's economic activity.

Stocks slide as confidence plunges
By CNNMoney.com staffFebruary 23, 2010: 10:21 AM ETNEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks slumped Tuesday morning after a key measure of consumer confidence plunged sharply, reflecting investors' growing pessimism about the strength of the economic recovery.
Stocks swayed on both sides of uneven in the early going, but turned lower after the release of the Consumer Confidence index. The Conference Board said its index fell to 46.0 in February from 56.5 in January. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com thought it would fall to 55.
Perhaps the focus of the week will come Wednesday when Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke appears to testify on Capitol Hill.
Indeed future was red just now.
But just now Dow was slight green n now is down again.
Today DOW may close in red.
