Report came out earli insted plus good &profitable news.. recovry in action
for all the spin the PR firm gives, try to avoid companies with a equity-linked facility... very dilutive... you can go check on the SGXnet.. almost all pennies that stay that way....
also, in August, it said it was going to dual-list.. but it along with Midas has yet to do so... take a look at Novo or Z-Obee.. despite the hiccups they are on the way there
BB
Poor set of results. Revenue and gross profits down from all its business divisions. The only reason why it turned profitable is due a one-off fair value gain (non-cash item) for its mining assets.
Their gross margins are very weak at 4.5% in 09 and 5% in 08. There are better coal and iron ore supply chain managers listed here... :(

Abterra, the supply chain manager of resources and minerals, managed to swing back into the black with a net profit of $13.3 million for the financial year ended 31 December 2009 (FY2009) largely due to a gain from the revaluation of a mining asset. Turnover of the year fell 61% y-o-y from $392 million to $151.9 million as revenue from the trading of iron ore declined 92% while revenue from the trading of coke and coal decreased 53%, mainly due to the tightening of credit facilities in the market, amid the financial turbulence. Other operating income increased 163% to $22.5 million, due to trade receivables impairment writeback of $6.9 million and a $13.5 million gain from the revaluation of one of its mining assets. Other operating expenses decreased 71% to $5.9 million, mainly due to a one-off impairment loss on the investment in an associated company and an allowance made for doubtful debts in 2008 which did not recur in 2009. |
Results out !!
Returned to profitability !!!
EPS increased !!!
wandering tis,
RESTRUCTURING OF SHANXI TAI XING JIAO ZHONG COAL INDUSTRY CO., LTD, will provide good revenue FY09...

If Newton's 3rd law applies,For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. then the imbalance will balance it self eventually, either human perish and then cool down or so much ash generated from the steel mills that blocks the sunlight and we go back into Ice Age 2.....whoopie...
From what I understand from National Geographic human creation is still very insignificant compare with volcanos (especially those under the sea), if Lake Toba blow up again like before, we will definately have Ice Age 2. The people will buy more Abterra & Straits Asia coal to keep warm.. hahah..no sun the wind dies, the solar panel inactive, left only nuclear, fision goes out of control, blast the earth & stirr up a lot of dust, we get another Ice Age...I say buy...to keep warm during Ice Age 2.

The globe's temperature is increasing at the rate of X 1.01 every year. We take singapore as reference......
2010 : 39 X 1.01 = 39.39
2011 = 39.79
2020 = 43.51
Some countries are already at 45 now...by 2020...are we still alive?
China Steel Production output up 13.5% last year despite slowdown in global economy. See commodityonline.com
Iron ore import surged in January 2010, 5.5 times the amount it imported Jan 2008. 43% more than Jan 2009. Is this a boom or what?
Remember Chairman Hu dodged the Copenhagen isssue? China know demm well they have to wait 20 years before it can build all these GREEN energy infrastructure to smelt the iron for their QQVolvo, HanHummer and Z steel beams for their sky scrapers. They just move the plants away from the city so to spread out the carbon a bit. Still think this Green movement going to bring Abterra price down? Soon they will be building steelcow to rake the field using Abterra coal. If you keep your share for next 20 years, then better go guy Green counters. But within the next 10 years BLACK & DIRTY COMMODITY will rocket so high until garmen really feel the pain and then build the Green infrstructure. My 2 yuan.
China wants to cut pollutions and is moving away from such energy production as coal.
Steel production needs coke but technological advancement may come out with other alternative to do it without or lesser coke.
Nuclear energy is the way to go, even Singapore have already contemplating to go nuclear........ and almost every of our neighbours are also going for nuclear energy........... :)
Coal's demand currently still there.........but its dwinding........and eventually.it would be like dinosaurs.( but not so soon)
But the writing is there............." Fission" technology where water is an ingredient to produce large amount of energy..... if successful will eventually put coals usgaes in the museum where future generation look at it and ...... laugh and wonders while such things was used then...... its like when we look at those days before electricity was invented.... how those ppl then live.. We were amazed and puzzle but that s the way it was then. candles are really important.. for night view. Now we have led touch lights. Its technological advancement that change the way We live. The value and demands of raw ingredient decrease in time..........when advancing technology replaces them. For coal, the writting are on the wal already. :)
