baseerahmed, no problem with the songs. load 'em up! it's a free forum, and a fellowship. :)

samuel_ng, welcome. sorry you felt desperate. we're not an unfriendly bunch, don't worry. Just that sometimes due to work and other reasons, we may not log onto the forum/same threads all the time. It's all free and easy. don't worry. :)

trading vols, as singaporegal pointed out: normally low in holidays as traders will be on break/holiday mood. generally, average vol on STI is about 2-3bil.

This period has been thin though, below 2 bil. So normally, for a trader, need to be very careful as there may be volatile swings if some big boy dumps/buys up huge lots. Sometimes, gap ups/downs may occur as a person sells down the quotes/buys up the quotes. That's when you see extremely rapid movement in a short time.

The alternative, in the current climate, is if the US stays constant or up, then, STI will likely be dormant this period/slight up. If a big swing occurs, be prepared for dip.

perhaps you can share why your wings are aching. :)

err.. sorry good people ..!

just a thought occurred ... this might create a precedent ...this song thing ... just got carried away ... then all sorts of songs come pouring in and dilute the seriousness/the main focus of this forum ...

ok ..self - censorship ....

but i suppose its ok being saturday and sunday ... and the holidays ahead ... just a bit of shade in an otherwise 'roasted' life .... hahaha !...

can't resist it ... evergreenn classics !...

hahaha !

Hi samuel_ng,

If there is an extended holiday, like CNY or Christmas (especially),  trading volumes will usually be lower for that week.

Next week will be a VERY slow weak for the market because of the CNY holidays.

BTW, I wish everyone here a Happy Chinese New Year!

Hi singaporegal,

are you speaking from experience or is there some reason you might have heard? Maybe you can share some numbers like trading volume in number of shares and turnover in $ from previous CNY weeks.

Wish you a Happy Chinese New Year too! :)

Using the following setup
