Underaged gambler stole after casino losses

SINGAPORE
For stealing the bag and another $2,400 worth of items in it, Tey was fined $3,000 in court yesterday.
Senior District Judge Tan Siong Thye, in his judgment, said a strong mitigating factor was that all the stolen items had been retrieved. He had also considered Tey’s age and that he was a first time offender who had showed his remorse by pleading guilty.
The court heard that on May 2 at 2.15am, just days after MBS had opened its doors to the public, Tey, who was working in Singapore as a hairstylist, was at the roulette section.
He noticed that a woman had placed her branded bag behind her on the seat of her chair.
When she stood up to place a bet, Tey picked up the bag and walked to the toilet. There, he took out $600 cash, $600 worth of gambling chips and a 16GB iPhone worth $1,200.
Tey left the handbag in the toilet. He was later stopped by a security officer, who checked his identification and age.
When it was found that he was underage, he was escorted out of the casino.
Just then the woman noticed her handbag was missing and made a report. Closed-circuit television footage identified Tey as the thief.
Tey’s lawyer, Mr Tng Soon Chye, told the court that Tey had gambled away $800 and was “worried” as the money was meant for his expenses that month.
Saying that Tey is a first time offender, Mr Tng added that Tey’s parents have “realised the need to spend more quality time with Tey and closely supervise him”.
MediaCorp understands that Tey was warned by the police for entering the casino as he is below the legal age of 21.
A Marina Bay Sands spokesperson said there were various levels of checks to prevent minors from entering the casino.
For Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, entry is denied as minors will not be allowed to purchase the $100 entry levy in the first place. She said foreigners, who need to bring along a form of identification such as a passport, will be subject to checks at the entrance.
Signs at the entrance also serve to remind potential patrons to comply with the legal age. They may also be subject to further checks within the gam

Many people who made it from rags to riches do start to 'chase knowledge', ie. obtain formal qualifications, after they have become 'llionaires... Thus, one must not judge that all those who undertake a course of study are idiots who are 'meant fated to be employees'.... Such a view can only be that of a simpleton...

I think you are right. Last time I heard that a teacher told his students no need study so much and take life so seriously in Singapore because making money is so easy with stock market and forex market. Everyone in Singapore is given the fair chance to try their luck. And if their luck runs out, they can always try the 2 casinoes. Why bother with paper chase? |

If we comfort to be average, we will end up to be normal guy. If we choose to work like a cow, we will end up to be a slave in a corporate. If this is what we choose, we are wasting the time we have in our life because everyday is just another normal day or may be a unlucky day as what the normal people always complain about. Life out of it and cheer for every success and pain moment.
Nowsaday, youngsters want to be the owner of their own lives. What's the meaning to work hard like a cow and give the golde time in our live for other to be more richer but only be rewarded with little potato and scared of being retrenched anytime. Earning quick money is nothing wrong as long as with the legal and proper way. When the parents bring us to this world, NOT for us to live and work for bosses, we choose the way we live and that's always choice for us.

On Friday, Genting continue re-test the major resistance at $1.21
and closed at $1.18 with low volume of 89.2 million shares traded.
A black candle stick with no upper/lower shadow shown that the momentum for further rally is at risk. .
Both RSI & MACD are bearish as MACD already did a “cross down”.
Important Resistance of Genting: $1.21
Immediate Support of Genting: $1.17
Not advisable to buy Genting now since prices are still above the
20/50/100/200 days MA and prices may have a hard time breaking the
technical/ Fibonacci 23.6% resistance at $1.21.
SEE ANALYSIS FOR SWIBER
Instead we encourage taking profit once support at $1.17 broken.
