That's right, bullish now...maybe b'cos of this :

 SingTel rated BUY

Deutsche Bank in a Jan 8 research report say: "We believe 2009 will be a busy year for STel as it is involved in the S’pore NBN NetCo build, bids for the Australian broadband network, competes for the S’pore EPL rights, deepens its Associate relationships and potentially uses reduced telco valuations to expand internationally.

"Partly related to STel’s ongoing search for international expansion and a subsequent desire to maintain 'balance sheet flexibility', and partly due to STel’s current balance sheet structure (we estimate that STel will end FY2010E (ie March 2010) with 1.3x net debt/EBITDA), we do not expect STel to announce either a special dividend or any other form of capital management in 2009. We do however expect STel to increase its payout ratio slightly which may explain why our FY2010E 14 cents dividend per share expectation is ahead of Consensus’ 12.7 cents per share. Our target price is $3.23 based on a sum-of-the-parts valuation methodology. BUY."

If not recorded wrongly, it was 1.94 when STI was 1472.77.

FYI.

Hi, usually when a counter CD, is there like a fix period (duration) before it changes to XD?

And how we know whether we will get the dividend? is it by holding onto the share as of the XD date, or hold for a period after XD appears?

Thanks for info in advance

STel went to 1.97 when STI shocked most traders with around 1470.

Now, some analyst fr diff investment houses believed that 1200 if not far fetch.

Omit the knee jerking 800 pts say loh.

What u think. If possible , would 1.97 is still the lowest??

The moral of the story is, if not sure, stay sideline n observe.

I agree to accumulate singtel at $2. May not find such a good opportunity again.

Personally tracked this for quite some time notice this counter has proven that its defensive nature against more volatile ones eg banks. Its drop with such bear mkt, actually since its peak at ard $4, is still quite reasonable. Go go!

SingTel
Nov 4 close: S$2.30
DBS Group Research, Nov 4

WORSE-THAN-EXPECTED Telkomsel results: SingTel could report net underlying profit of S$800 million in Q2 FY2009, its second fiscal quarter ended September, on Nov 12 (down 13 per cent y-o-y and 8 per cent q-o-q). Full-year street estimates suggest that the market is expecting flat to single-digit earnings growth. So a 13 per cent earnings decline could trigger a series of earnings downgrades on the street............

Downgrade to 'fully valued' from 'hold', with a revised TP of S$2.34: We lower our valuation for Telkomsel and use current market prices for listed associates instead of TPs in view of potential earnings disappointments. We advise investors to accumulate SingTel towards our trough valuation of S$2.02.
FULLY VALUED
