Fyi....last day cum divds is on 5 Dec. i.e. if u are still holding onto your shares, u will get the 19cts divds. Thereafter, XD will apply and share price will correct accordingly.

This counter is advisable for long term investors,  it's an old man stock. It move rather slowly in both directions. Smiley

New to this.. Thanks for the clarification Wongmx6, temp123..

Another question, wouldn't everyone else be buying heaps of SPH b4 9/Dec and selling them straight away

after dividend day.. Returns will be better than parking $$ in Fixed Deposit.. ;)

If i could still recall, it should be around $12.50 level before 1-5 split >10 years ago during the AFC, so that work out to ~$2.50. Anyway, 10 yrs low is at $2.92. It should not visit these level again unless something drastic happen.

Hmm...looks like the fund's selling isn't complete yet. Should be done by today, hopefully.

SPH still value for money. Take it that you are putting money in fixed deposits, at least you still get dividends twice in a year. Smiley

Guess SPH is the worst STI performer.

2nd worst performer goes to OCBC, net gain of 15% from low, when STI rise more than 20% from 1476.

Actually, SPH is ok, cos it falls little and rise little.

OCBC more jiatlat, falls alot more than SPH, but only rise abit more SPH.

The return for bank shares is better. I'll avoid this for the time being.

No matter how defensive it is, if we pay a higher price for the stock adn got the dividend, we are automatically considered using our money to support the stock of the company. If you buy at $4 and received a dividend of 20 cents, then your price is $3.80. Stock price fall to $3.30 actually means lost.
