Tiger Airways posts strong operating numbers in April
Mainboard-listed low-cost carrier Tiger Airways has announced strong operating numbers for the month of April. Total passenger volume was a record 5.03 million people, up 54 per cent on year. The average load factor — the percentage of seats sold — increased 6 percentage points to 85 per cent.
Tiger Group chief executive Tony Davis said the numbers clearly show that the carrier is attracting more passengers with its low fares. Going forward, Tiger Airways will set up a third Australian base at Avalon Airport in Victoria and fly to more destinations within Greater China, India and Australia.

Tiger Air to launch new flights from Avalon Airport in Victoria
Written by The Edge
Monday, 19 April 2010 08:42
Melbourne-based Tiger Airways Australia Pty Ltd, the fully-owned subsidiary of
Tiger Airways Holdings, today announced its third base for Australia and new
flights to operate from Avalon Airport in Victoria later this year.
At the same time, Avalon Airport announces a multi-million-dollar expansion of
its facilities to cater for more flights with today’s announcement that Tiger
Airways will fly from the airport later this year.
The new base at Avalon Airport will complement existing services at Melbourne’s
Tullamarine Airport and allow Tiger Airways to further increase its fleet in
Australia. The two new A320 aircraft which will be based at Avalon Airport will
increase the number of Tiger Airways aircraft in Australia to 11.
Tiger Airways Australia Managing Director, Shelley Roberts, said that the
opportunity to operate Tiger Airways flights from Avalon Airport was a major
win for the growing airline, increasing opportunities for Australian travellers.
Linfox Airports Executive Chairman David Fox said the arrival of Tiger Airways
was the most significant announcement for Avalon Airport since passenger
services began at the airport in June 2004.
Our flying tiger might be testing 2.00 range pretty soon :)

Tiger Airways target raised to $2.40 by Citigroup ('o' )
Written by The Edge Friday, 09 April 2010 09:55
Citigroup has raised Tiger Airways (J7X.SG) target price to $2.40 from $2.00, based on 10x EV/EBITDA, after increasing FY11-12 earnings forecasts by 21%-25%, says Dow Jones.
“We expect passenger yields to surprise on the upside given strong ticket demand and healthy forward bookings,” says Citigroup.
The brokerage research house of the investment bank has tipped short-term opportunity for low-cost carriers in general to raise yields: “The higher ticket prices charged by full-service carriers may widen the pricing gap between low-cost carriers and full-service carriers, and coupled with strong forward bookings, low-cost carriers may be able to charge higher ticket prices.”

The analyst know that got big shot government investors mah, so raise target price.
Citigroup share still stays at US$ 4 plus, very lousy perfomance. Am hoping they drop like nobody business ($1 or $2) then buy them.
