close one eye to watch how DJ kena wack again tonite. EU now in maloon.
CO near 142 in Asian trades.
SPC opening price down $.09 today. (Today's mkt, not surprising). But in the late afternoon, up $.09.
Seems like it is doing well....Anybody still waiting for the durian to fall?
I was sort of waiting for $6 & below; but think no longer....
the Chinese shares echoed to this n plunged 6.5%, just like Msia, a phenomena of fuel price increases. if all countries withdraw their country's fuel subsidy, CO will definitely decline, as experts claimed earlier.
6.5!...but price of CRUDE oil dip significantly last nite cos of China raising the oil prices..
agreed, the pricing is main factor as well, if u hold for a yr for this stock. but now the catch is Aug, one giving 80cts and the other, less than 30 cts. under such a volatile market, my view is hit and run is a much viable method leow loh.
Hi shplayer, you are absolutely right that SPC yields better than SIA. SPC's share price is about half of SIA. If buying 2 SPC is equivalent to 1 SIA, then SPC will give divvy of $1,200 as compared to SIA's $1,000 for the same amount on investment.

idesa168,
My earlier post was strictly to address divvy yield issue as AK mentioned that SIA div is better than SPC. In absolute div payout terms, of course SIA ($1.00 div) is better than SPC (60c). But for div play, a more equitable way to look at it is the yield......rather than absolute div.
Of course, there are other factors, besides yield, to take into consideration when making investment decisions.

mmm...both are good counters, both do bear good yields, but both are of different ball game. One in commodities while the other in transportation. Although both are closely related to CO. To be very sure, bet on both counters...win-win...hehehe!!! If inflation shows its ugly side, both will go down together. Want to be double sure, bet on GOLD as well... |

spc better divy % than sia but both suit u 4 divy counters.........c/o px shud stabilise in near future (only opinion) with saudi arabia, kuwait n SUDAN mtg tis sunday 2 increase output.
sorry, got half day off owing to had decided no deal today. AK view was based on anticipation on CO will dip gradually after King Saudi posted increasing CO output. If thats come into reality, SIA will be benefited over above of the guarantee 80 div X on 31 Jul. Whereas for SPC its interim div to be announced in Jun/Jul likely would be not more than 30cts(last same period was 20 cts, pd on 22 Aug 07)
Henceforth, couple with SIA performance is bright, as analysts given lately, AK perceives that taking SIA is much better option. a wise saying, the longer the night the more dreams you hv. simply div comes earlier is better than those comes late, as there are so many uncertainties nowadays, both security and economy.
Ayah AK view only lah.

I beg to differ with your statement on div.
For SIA FY08 (most recent finacial year), div is $1.00....based on current price of $15.28, yield is 6.5%
For SPC FY07, div was 60c.....based on current price of $6.50, yield is 9.2%.
SPC's historical yield (compared to current price) is about 41% better than that of SIA.
Furthermore, considering industry outlook, I think SPC (O&G) is more bullish than SIA (Airline) which is being weighed down by fuel prices.

last few days, DJ up, it up, DJ down it down, strange leh. it seems immune to CO price.
talking about div, buying SIA is much better option as it had gone down below 16 quite a while leow. Saudi posted increase of CO output may give it a little boost, hope so loh. invested but waiting to buy in for avg. tomorrow may be a good day, just see how. |

Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited ("Temasek") changed in the percentage level from 45% to 46.01%.
I really want to buy more durian, esp before the 20c in Aug.
AK opine that still no hurry to rush in to bring it to your portfolios. Observe the market trends, esp the CO and USD. There are ample opportunities for us to enter the market in time to come, when the market wheather is clearer.
AK forecast is that I got half day off each trading day till end this week. he he.
I am reading an article from an interview with Arjun N Murti. Here is what he has to say on oil speculation
Q : There is been a lot of discussion about speculationrs driving up commodity
prices
Ans : Oil markets are driven by fundamentals. Our response to the notion it is
merely a bubble is that you are still seeing no supply growth. If the price
isn't real, where is the supply.
He adds the world is not running out of oil but that the places that have large quantities of recoverbale oil, like Saudi Arabia, Iraq , Iran and Venezuela and Russia, aren't on track to grow their supply aggressively
