EAS seals Petrobras rig deal  Up-To-Date
Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras said today that local shipyard Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS) had won the tender to build seven drilling rigs in Brazil.
News wires   11 February 2011 15:03 GMT

The contract is worth $4.64 billion, which corresponds to a reduction of $13 million with respect to EAS' original offer, said Petrobras in a statement.
The total value puts each unit price at around $662.4 million.
EAS is a consortium formed by South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries and local construction giants Queiroz Galvao and Camargo Correa.
The first rig is scheduled to enter operations in 2015, said Petrobras.
Companies that also presented bids included Brazilian consortium Alusa Galvao and overseas giants such as Singapore's Sembcorp Marine and Keppel Corp.
Petrobras plans to commission a total of up to 28 new drilling rigs to be built in Brazil to explore oil reserves in deep waters, including the pre-salts.
According to initial plans, the rigs were expected to be delivered between 2013 and 2018.

I bought some lots in Dec 2010 when the price was below $10.80.
Anyway, looks like Kerp Corp expanding into the oil-rich North Sea area with its investment in Skeie Energy AS and more investment in Tianjin China (water treatment business)..

Think the above two announcements nicely timed to coincide with tomorrow's earnings announcement.

Yeah! Kep Land's announcement was fantastic, record 1 Billion profit! Wow!
Kep Corp's price trend should reverse tomorrow, at least after their announcement after 5pm tomorrow.

Is the stock reacting to the news of the termination of order by Noble? If so, I think it is an over-reaction especially when we consider that they have a new order from Clearwater which more than make up for the Noble order loss.
Can someone shed light into the downslide in price these couple of days?

DMG says the cancellation with Noble is “not a cause for concern” as it was due to a change in contract status with its end client, Petrobras. The house keeps its Buy rating and $12.00 target on Keppel, and estimates net outstanding orderbook rose $270 million to $5.5 billion with deliveries stretching up to end-2013.
In separately news, grp announced that Noble Corp. have terminated a US$152m contract to upgrade a drill ship, however grp notes that cancellation is unlikely to weigh on Keppel shares as partnership with Noble "remains steadfast" and grp will now be able to take on more jobs in an improving market….
We note that market is tipping for KepCorp to clinch an estimated $4.5b contracts worth this yr (Excluding Petrobas) and new order places Kep’s orderbook to an approximately $5b (including options). At current price, grp trades at a forward PE of 13.79x vs its weighted of 14.2x and all time high of 22.1x. Grp is scheduled to report results tomorrow. Resistance for today tipped at year-to-date high at $11.70.
SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--A unit of Singapore-listed Keppel Corp. Ltd. (BNA.SG) and Noble Corp. (NE) have terminated a US$152 million contract to upgrade a drill ship on mutually acceptable terms, Keppel said Saturday.
The contract between Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Keppel FELS Brasil, and Noble to upgrade the vessel--Noble Muravlenko--was scheduled to take place in 2013.
"We respect Noble's decision and our partnership with them remains steadfast. We have been compensated for the cancellation and still have two drillship projects with Noble which also intends to award more projects to Keppel. Our yard capacity for 2013 will now allow us to take on more jobs in an improving market," said Chow Yew Yuen, president, Keppel O&M (Americas), in a statement to Singapore Exchange.
Keppel had signed the deal with Noble in December 2009, the statement said, adding that the termination isn't expected to have any material impact on the net tangible assets or earnings per share of Keppel Corp. for the current financial year.

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured new orders from Clearwater Capital Partners, LLC (Clearwater) to build a pair of premium KFELS B Class jackup rigs at US$360 million ($462 million).
The two high specification jackups are scheduled for delivery in 1Q 2013 and 2Q 2013 respectively.
As part of the agreement, Clearwater has options to build another two similar jackup units with Keppel FELS. If exercised, the options for the additional two rigs will bring the total contract value to above US$730 million.
