Shanghai copper hits 4-mth high on supply concerns

SYDNEY, April 3 (Reuters) - Shanghai copper futures
<0#SCF:> climbed more than 1 percent on Tuesday to their highest
in almost four months as global supply concerns at the start of
the high-consumption second quarter prompted a rash of buying.
Shanghai's most active June copper contract was up
910 yuan, or 1.4 percent against Monday's close to 64,080 yuan
($8,291) a tonne before the noon break.
Shanghai trading was being underpinned by gains in Monday's
London and New York futures markets, traders said.
"We're seeing questions over supplies into the second quarter
that are lifting prices everywhere," a dealer said.
Copper for three months delivery on the London Metal
Exchange was quoted flat at $6,970 a tonne in electronic trading.
On Monday the contract touched $6,980 a tonne, its highest
since Dec. 7, before easing $10 by the close.
In New York, copper for May delivery settled up
3.30 cents at $3.1790 a lb on the New York Mercantile
Exchange's COMEX division, its loftiest close since Dec. 5,
after trading a session range between $3.1075 and $3.1940.
A 3,000-tone rise in LME inventories, taking the exchange's
warehouse tally above 181,000 tonnes -- versus a 52-week high of
216,100 tonnes -- did little to dampen enthusiasm of investors.
"The perception in the market is still that of diminishing
supply," another dealer said.
Shanghai June aluminium <0#SAF:> was 20 yen lower at 19,220
yuan a tonne.

 

Do you think the BBs are accumulating the counter?

 

Look at the way the BBs are buying up this counter just before closing and at closing, I think it will cheong tomorrow...just my opinion.

Sometime I wonder all this target price is it going to be achievable, is then very in doubt ! Maybe the law should passed down, if those target cannot be achieved, then whoever set it previously, should get their backside fire or sue to court for news misleading and causing investor to invest wrongly and in the end suffer a great lost plus emotional and mental lost in energy plus stress !!!

Vote for the new rule to be pass down !!!! Hooray ! Hooray !!!

 

In short the price will be very volatile, due to olympics in 2008, china is pushing demand for metal. But as the same time US housing woos has drive the demand down. Thus unless china's property boom continues the price will remain stagnent but there will be another deciding factor which is the cost of OIL. Normally when oil increase, oil exploration projects starts to kick in driving demand for metals too, and also with tension in the middle east, metals are also in hot demands for building military weapons. China this year is going to spend billions into its military and what do these made of? Metals so ultimately metals will also go up in the short run.

 

Is the TP of $1.60 set by Kim Eng achieveable?? Any comment from gurus?

Can someone confirms if a inverted head & shoulder is forming ? Not quite sure is it considered as head & shoulder because the head is not quite a head .

Smelter is set and ready

We recently visited Advance SCT?s newly acquired copper smelter plant in Malaysia.

The plant is equipped with two furnaces. One furnace has started commercial

production ahead of schedule, while the second furnace is being completed. When the

second furnace is operational later in the year, this smelter plant will have a capacity of

5,000 tonnes per month. Advance SCT will then have the capability to produce 8-mm

and 3-mm copper coils. This would boost earnings, going forward. We raise our

earnings forecast and arrive at a 12-month target price of S$1.60. Maintain BUY.

 

METAL DEMAND IS PUSHING UP THIS COUNTER... look out.. large buying volume supporting the contra sellers.

 

This counter is moving into main board. Is this good? does that mean it has more potential than the rest of the SESDAQ counter?

 

i tot copper future price rise, what happen to this counter?

 

at the moment.. it is going down...support around $0.67



but for long term, strong stock. good fundamentals.

sell so he can buy up mah... AdvSCT is a gem ... resistance so strong with good foundamental.. don't short sell or u will burn!
