Genting financial results out liao ... profit flat qoq....
For the second quarter of 2013, the Group reported revenue of S$707.9 million and adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (“Adjusted EBITDA”) of S$310.8 million.
Resorts World Sentosa (“RWS”) – Singapore Integrated Resort (“Singapore IR”) contributed revenue of S$707.4 million and Adjusted EBITDA of S$313.6 million. With the increased visitation to the Marine Life Park, the non-gaming business continues to register a healthy growth of 19% as compared to the second quarter of 2012. The Marine Life Park and Universal Studios Singapore attracted over 1.7 million visitors in the second quarter of 2013 whilst the hotels achieved a high occupancy rate of 92%, with an average room rate of S$409. The casino business was affected by a lower win percentage in the premium players’ business despite significant increase in its rolling volume.
For the first half of 2013, the Group reported revenue of S$1,377.6 million and Adjusted EBITDA of S$560.5 million. The Singapore IR continues to generate a steady stream of revenue, with the Marine Life Park contributing to an expanded revenue base in the non-gaming segment. Compared to the first half of 2012, the Singapore IR did well by achieving significant increase in premium players’ rolling volume but net revenue was affected by a lower win percentage.

CIMB highlighted an improvement in CMA's operating margins and firm rents at the company's existing and new malls. " We expect further operational improvements to drive its share price," it said.

According to CIMB, MBS operating numbers for 2Q13 showed that it was very much business as usual. The VIP market continues to be very narrow, driven by credit and high betting limits. The mass market business continues to struggle for growth as yields have been maximised and there is limited scope for capacity expansion. GENS will report its 2Q13 on 6 Aug. CIMB are expecting $308m adjusted EBITDA (+1.8% y/y) and $156m net profit (+12.8% y/y). House are assuming that GENS pulled back on VIP credit following the cautious outlook by management in 1Q13. However, if it maintained VIP liquidity, GENS is likely to beat its 2Q13 estimate. CIMB has an UNDERPERFORM rating with TP of $1.08.

GENTING Singapore on Thursday broke ground on its new 550-room hotel in western Singapore, along Jurong Town Hall Road.
Located at a 9,027 square metres site with a 99 year lease period, the hotel is slated to open in the first half of 2015 in a district earmarked by Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority as a new growth area with commercial, business and leisure facilities.
The hotel is situated close to the International Business Park cluster of offices, as well as popular shopping malls such as JCube and Jem.
Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman of the Genting Group and Executive Chairman of Genting Singapore said, " With our hotel being the first to open in this growing precinct, we hope to create another unique hospitality product that will crank up the buzz meter in this already vibrant area to even higher levels. This will be a new landmark in the Jurong Lake District."

I believe if they shorted at a lower than market price (married the deal at low prices, sell side borrowed long side use spare cash), they expect Genting to go down to $1.30, but the shorts will further sell should the market move up say to $1.40.
As the tick goes up, the buy side takes profits while the sell side further adds to the sale and wait for correction to buy back lower and lower for profit. Thus both sides makes money and the market moves with volatility. This always happen in married deals.
