Lucky I stopped loss last week  when I saw it going up. .....weak loan growth, losses from lehman fallout, exposure to region's bad economy....i wonder if price appreciation sustainable?

Currently DBS share price has oredi been factor in the extra number of share after executing all Right Issue.

Price of DBS share will only drop a lot if many shareholders don't want to execute their Right and this is highly unlikely.

I know the answer oredi, it's some selfish forumner that sold away their dbs shares earlier oredi & now hope to buy back much cheaper, that's why they are saying dbs share price is likely to collaspe very soon, haha.

Sigh , in forums it's always like that , I remembered last month also got forumners say Capitalmall will fall to 64 cents & Venture to fall to $3.00

Actually, it is the way that they tried to raise money (ie through rights issue @ $5.4) has raise some eye-brow. And $5.40 is the theortical floor price of the stock. You should not see any DBS stock selling below this price. But under current condition, anything is possible.

Anyway, the saying goes : Good Company sell Debts, OK company sell convertible bond and bad company sell shares.

I sold mine at the speed of light.....second or third day when trade started.  Need profit to buy abalone...

But the huge plunge & huge open gap down in dbs share price on 29/12/08 already factored in this rights shares dilution , isn't it?

On 22/12/08, dbs shares also opened big gap down when the news 1st released.

So why would 20th jan cause dbs share to drop big like one forumner said??

20th is the last day for one to execute his right issue. For those who have not execute after 20th, the Right that he is holding will be consider flied away.

Reminder!!!! if anyone is still holding the Right. Must Remember to execute it before 20th. If you don't want the share then you can sell it away after 2 Feb09.

u say jan 20th rights issue  expire??

I thought the deadline to apply for the dbs's rights shares oredi expired some time back?

goondoo      ( Date: 16-Jan-2009 22:14) Posted:

DBS is now artificially supported by the rights issue as the underwriters need to support the stock price to ensure all the rights will be subsribed.

Come 20 Jan 09 when the rights issue expire, the support is gone, and DBS may free fall if the results and outlook of the bank is disastrous.

And seriously, if the situation is not extremely bad, why such a big issue of rights at such a low price, it seems a very desperate move by a very desperate company. Since the rights do not increase profit and earnings, the rights effectively decrease EPS and DPS by 33% immediately cos the share float increased by 50%.
