the previous ceo and more effective one compared to mr/ms saw is also a ex bg or something. he run the smrt very efficiently but did not expand the retail portions. however under him the cost are keep low and maint and parts are very well run. wouldnt need to incurred the 900mil repair cost if still under him. but too bad temasick asked him to gif way to ho jinx's grass-mates. how much much did this saw make or saved in the 10 yrs compared to the 900mil repair cost!

ooopppss~~

makasi for the clarification~

Just want to clarify. Downtown line is not managed by SMRT. It is managed by SBS Transit.

" SMRT said it is still in talks with LTA on the cost sharing for the S$900 million asset renewal plan. It added that about two-thirds of the asset renewal costs is for the rail infrastructure."

As SMRT keeps expanding its services (downtown line total 3 stages) and promises to renew of its infrastructure, it should be optimistic if there's no more serious breaking down like the last few times~

The MTR fare in HKishigher than in Spore. So  SMRT use it to qualify the increase in fare.

I think changing the chairman of PTC should be positive for SMRT, Gerard Ee is out Richard Magnus is in, I think the new chair would be more prone to increase fares by greater amount. Gerard is a welfare guy right? Looking forward for the next PTC meeting. I think Q1 2013?   More can be done to the amount of retail space at MRT stations.  DYODD,  Vested!!

SMRT is unique because even if service standards remain poor, people still have to take the train to work and home, thus generating revenue. Unlike restaurants where if the food or service  is bad, we can go to another restaurant... in this case, there is no alternative

Question is when will it be a good time to buy.

AFTER the troubles are OVER (confirmation - but will these troubles  ever be the last of the last for  congested trains?)

or

BEFORE the troubles are OVER (betting element - that is if you bet the trouble will one day be over)

Stock price already bounced off 1.60 low and consolidating @ 1.70
